The box will contain over $250,000 of hardware, generate noise, leech off of your electricity and internet like a parasite, and give you functionally nothing in return. In some conditions, they even take power priority over electric vehicle charging. Remember the days of kids with basevall bats smashing rural mailboxes? Time to update that image.

Well that's one way to circumvent zoning laws preventing data center buildouts

Now that will be an excuse to your boss in the morning... "Ugh, Sorry Boss, it was 85 degrees last night outside and for some reason my Tesla didn't charge... I can't make it in to work today". Bahwahahha.

The fact that the name Palentir is even mentioned relating to SPAN should be of great concern to everyone.

You also forgot to point out, $250k object on your property will increase your property value, and therefore increase your property tax. If the county flips it shit when you lay down some concrete for a shed and increases your tax, imagine what a mini data center would do

“Let’s put hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment outside people houses”. Who is the window licker CISO that just nodded their head when someone proposed this? “Oh well just put cameras in the box, and then wait half an hour for local authorities.” Like how many certifications of security best practices just got thrown out the window?

6:56 i know barely anything about the grid but i know for a fact every house that is "under utilized" isint a bad thing cause you do not want every house pegged at its maximum drawling capacity

Just put a flock camera in your front yard too to monitor the mini datacenter you’re subsidizing. Might as well hook up a mini generator to a stationary bike and complete the transformation into a copper top.

I can see them charging the household if it gets stolen too

If one of those boxes were forced onto my property, it would go missing in under 24 hours.

If these are on the homeowners property and get broken into, is the homeowner's insurance responsible for making them whole? That's a scary downside. What about if the homeowner wants to do work that would impact service to this thing? Do they have to get the blessing of the company? Ugh.

I will spread the word to my local tweakers about how valuable these boxes are
