Its going on around here too, if its not them wanting to buy to build a data center or solar farm, its an investment capitol company looking to buy your house. The problem is they don't offer much. They first get the city to raise the taxes to the point no one can afford to stay, then they go in and buy all the homes that are in foreclosure for back taxes. They drive off all the businesses as well. They make sure there's no jobs for folks to work at too.

I think part of the reason they're going after farms, is because they're usually already well tapped. They want the easiest access to the aquifers that they can get.

Pro tip for anyone dealing with this, take the money and go buy all the land you can with it, then 30 days after closing when you get your fatass check remember the endangered species living on your old land and make sure everyone knows.

Similar to this (minus the whole water thing) are the farmers/landowners on turbine sites. Some said no outright during the planning, or maybe backed out later, etc and watched turbines go up all around their property lines and their neighbors retire because they were getting P A I D every month for the lease the last 10-15 years.

Its happening in my town, destroying all the local suburbs and properties around the country where they are putting it too. The property taxes goes up, electricity bills and water go through the roof, pollution is going to be dumped into our creek that feeds the local wildlife and water supply for the school and town. We are protesting and trying to stop it but they have so much money and the politicians of the town are greedy.

In GA they just strait up used eminent domain to run power to one. Kicked families out of their homes for a multi-billion dollar corporations interests. Make your city councilors aware that letting a data center in will signal the end of their careers, but they'll probably still be bought off.
