I often get asked how much time I spend working in the garden so today I wanted to show you what 2 hours of gardening (while filming myself and setting up the camera) looks like! In this time I setup a new Florida weave for my grafted tomatoes, planted a bunch of peppers, and pruned A LOT of tomatoes as well showing you guys some updates along the way! ❤❤❤ thank you for sharing ! You are so knowledgeable, I didn’t know about the decomposable clips, I recently got 500 but they were plastic and I was wondering if I failed to get them out or lose one then plastic will be in my beds, which is not a thing that I want to thank you
I came across info I'll be using in Ct Valley. Give ea. plant a cup of cool water/rain water before sunset at ground level. This kicks in the plant's immune system and the plant repair/rejuvenate overnight. We rest and repair during sleep time, right? Thank you Jacques. Loving all your veggies. Flowers attracting pollinators and predatory insect to eat the bad guys.
I’m also in Southern California and I have powdery mildew on my tomatoes and cucumbers and I was bummed thinking I was doing something wrong.
Put out some water for the birds to keep them from your produce. I have magpies that tear up my succulents if there's nothing else. As soon as there's even green tomatoes available I can kiss them goodbye if the water dish is dry. Great video as always. Safe travels!
Thank you for the advice about the peppers. Going to stake them tomorrow
That bloody bird!!! 😆 It keeps whistling something that sounds like a tune and it's driving me nuts! Love the show btw. I watch you more than Kevin!
Great video! It's good to see you pruning your tomatoes and "cleaning" the garden in two hours. Its motivating!
Its funny to hear "gray May", because here in the PNW we get "June-uary" 😂
Love your work ethic, Jacques! I planted 21 cucumbers today, including: Merlin, Sumter, National Pickling, and Party Time. You should try Sumpter. They have high resistance to powdery mildew. Safe travels!
Not sure what you mean by grafted tomato never heard of that.
Hello, you should try the capsicum Chinense vegetarien, it's a Caribbean chili that's not hot at all but very perfumed, my favorite at all!
I'm having to keep rewinding because I keep getting hypnotized by the look of the kale in the background 🤩
Have you ever tried to bio-fumigate some of your soil with tilling in some mustard greens to help with your nematode problem?
Where’d you find those compostable tomato clips? That’s a need.
theres a noticeable difference in overall plant production when you pick breaker or ripe tomatoes. i see this all the time with my "super san marzano" tomatoes which have a thick skin and can stay on the plant for WEEKS while ripe. the next fruits dont even begin to ripen until the ripe ones are picked also on the yellow leaves affected by powdery mildew: some tomatoes are resistant to PM, like the super san marzano that i have. what resistant means is that they still manage to function even with yellowy infected leaves. the plant i mentioned above looks like its on its last leg but it continues to support its tomatoes.
Do you cut off the leaves that have powdery mildew? It was kinda hard to tell.
Ahh May gray followed by June gloom
For clarification, the powdery mildew leaves can not go in the compost bin?
I really appreciate you giving serving suggestions for the produce you grow. I love growing vegetables but I am short on preparation ideas and very few gardener youtubers give prep ideas. Please give more when possible.
I am going to start the Florida weave on my tomatoes tomorrow. Nice timing for the video. Today, I discovered a pepper plant that over wintered and is starting to grow back. Interesting because I have wicked cold winters. It was probably sheltered by other grow bags and was in a corner. Have a nice trip. I’m looking forward to seeing how you will trellis the bagged tomatoes. 😊
