HOLY SHIT!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH MATT!!!! I have been a fan of yours for 5 years, since your first poly bridge videos. i genuinely have dreamed of the day you would play a game i developed. I am literally shaking from adrenalin right now, i am only 4 minutes in so i don't know if you enjoyed the game or not yet but i thank you from the bottom of my heart for trying out my game. I am tearing up right now i dont even know what to say. Thank you Matt. ~Nick, the solo developer of IRON NEST
Says N2 selects O2, if that's not an architect I don't know what it can be
At 32:00, the spotters performed well. However, they should have been placed at 4:6 instead of 6:4. When friendly units are nearby, it's recommended to aim to the side to avoid catching them in the blast radius
Of course the architect never double checks his numbers. 6:4, not 4:6.
The great thing about RCE is that every single person in the audience gets the urge to play the game just to confirm they aren't _this_ bad at it.
As a former Fire controlman I'll say the switches that say "confirmed xxxx" before firing are pretty darn useful if you actually confirm the information
"High explosive rounds don't burst as much" Simply brilliant
32:00 - the spotters did a fine job, you just placed spotter on 4:6 instead of 6:4 I think when friendly units are nearby you're supposed to aim off to the side of your target so they don't get caught in the blast radius.
The Disaster of N2 to O2
13:05 When you fire into cities you use HE because it doesn't burst as much. Don't change Matt, you're perfect the way you are.
5:50 "Bearing confirmed" you sure about that?
7:30 our beloved beaver engineer has became a war crime committing architect
You know, the command deck of a military vehicle is called the "bridge". And that means...
He got spotter one in the wrong spot. He mixed up his 6 and 4. Probably looking at the note above regarding his gun location.
11:45 truly an architect
That's the first play-through of Iron Nest where someone missed the bearing input
you know when you read those headlines about the army blowing up a school or a hospital and you wonder "how could that have happened?" well now i know. It was some poor sods first day and he forgot to spin the wheel.
So the dev says that the guns are 800mm (31.5 inches) for comparison the Yamato had 460mm (18.1 inch) guns. These guns are absolutely massive.
This is actually pretty accurate to real life artillery. Former US artillery man. This is 13 series MOS job. 13B are the guys doing all the heavy lifting. 13F are your observers (spotters) and 13J (this is what I did) are what we called ourselves rocket scientists. HE is high explosive. Measurement is usually done in Mils and not degree because it’s more accurate. So this is pretty accurate to real life artillery. The timing is cool too because IRL we would use this to do PD (point detonate). You could time it early to do a burst above ground like if you have a unit or battalion of infantry. A delay fuse to do a bunker buster. Pretty neat game
i'm amazed how matt can't remember a thing for few sec, literally reads coordinates from paper, uses different one moment after.
