Youth sports are cooked.
In an 11U travel baseball game over the weekend, a coach allegedly instructed his pitcher to hit a batter in the head AND throw a 70MPH heater DIRECTLY into the dugout.
And the tournament is doing… NOTHING!?!

My boy’s heart and soul is in soccer, but we wanted to try out something new for him so he chose baseball. It’s so crazy to me the amount of money that goes into youth baseball. League fees, uniform fees, ump fees. The kids imidiatly started making fun of him because my son didn’t have the flashiest gear. Kids started calling him “Drip-less J”. My son didn’t get care he just wanted to play. He outplayed everyone on that team. These kids played baseball since pewee league. My sons first time touching a baseball was at 12 years old. Ultimate he chose soccer and I am so glad he did. He plays for the local pro team academy with good prospects for the future.

The USSSA initially faced heavy backlash because the umpires on-site allowed the Oklahoma team to continue playing and did not immediately forfeit the game after the ball hit a Nebraska player in the dugout. However, following a massive public outcry and viral circulation of the incident, the coach has reportedly been banned from major organizations and the player has been suspended indefinitely

That’s insane. That coach should be fired from the team and then banned from coaching.

Oh it's all over Little League. I stopped coaching after a player in my dugout, swung a bat and deliberately hit a team mate. I yelled at him, surprisingly no expletives, but I got disciplined by the club for yelling at the kid who was malicious trying to injur a teammate. So, my kids now play hockey.

Why is there not criminal charges? That would stop this behavior real quick. You do that anywhere else and you go to jail wtf is different about being in a baseball field

I played little league in the 70s and there were times when pitches were thrown at a kid to " set him down" or " dust him off ". It's been part of the game forever, but throwing a ball into the dugout ? That's a new one 🤦🏼

The common culture in youth baseball is to roast the opposition verbally constantly. And fights, arguments, and crazy things like a coach ordering a pitcher to throw at other players. And if that kid didn't throw at that dugout, the coach would have benched him forever. Because that's the crazy mentality of baseball. After playing it for close to 20 years, that part of it I don't miss at all. It's dumb and the coaches need to be held accountable for their players actions. The culture is beyond toxic.

Even when I was a kid my coaches would tell me to try to send people to the hospital. It’s always been an issue.

With how much money has been pumped into youth sports, it's become a lot more attractive to grown men who want to try and recapture their glory days and compete vicariously through other people's children.

That’s the problem both coaches and parents think this is to win the World Series and win at all cost
