Pretty cool
Khadas kinda sounds badass
want one.
I bet they could make a handheld controller and battery attachment with a display
Khadas in Mongolia means Nails like wood nails. So it's like nailing the pc to dock.
Unexpectedly, this is the first device I have seen that has a feature I have wanted on laptops for a long time. Laptops now can create *a lot* of heat, which they promptly dispose of the heat out the bottom, which is awful if you actually like to use the device, as the bottom is rarely unobstructed. I feel like it's time to figure out the logistics of putting most components in the top for cooling purposes. The main problem is weight distribution. This thing solves it using a kickstand, which isn't ideal IMO. You could just put a massive battery in the bottom, I guess lol.
A good laptop and good eGPU/Thunderbolt dock get you the same results but with some path of an upgrade.
My dream is to be able to use my phone as the core for my laptop. I've played with PostmarketOS on a PinePhone. It's sluggish because of the crappy hardware, but the idea of having a full GNU/Linux distro running on my phone is awesome! Just need a bigger display and a keyboard to get the desktop experience. I would use something the size of this mini PC as a phone if it had 5G radio and a screen.
I see stuff like this and I always wonder why they hit such high performance targets? I feel like most people who need a powerful PC already have a good desktop. I really feel like modular computing like this would take off if they hit $250-500-750 brackets, with a framework-like mentality, where all the modules work with all the different tiers. I'm sure they could slim it down if they didn't have to have such a beefy cooler too.
I bought this setup but with the previous gen (Mind 2s) before the Pro was released. And I am very satisfied with it. With the Graphics dock attached, gaming and video editing works flawless, and I could go out for a weekend using the laptop docking station for browsing / youtube, even working on smaller photo / video editing projects on the go. Expensive of course, but does 2 different jobs at once with a premium design. And nowadays, when RAM and SSD prices are so high, you can easily find yourself in the similar ballpark if you want to get high-end yet portable setups i.e. a laptop without the possibility to use desktop grade GPU.
Opening packages like a caveman
The lack of touch input was the kill for me. I was sooooo excited till that.
Would love to see this in a more usable package by itself like a actual laptop Could see this in a office enviorment for some fields where they need a portable laptop and not a lot of mobile power but can just lay it down into a dock and get a desktop GPU without having 2 diffrent enviorments.
They should have made it where you can use the mind dock and the gpu at the same time. But does the dock utilize the pcie slot?
15:27 trackpad drag clicking 😂
13:57 "O feels different" - yes, because it's a U 😂😂
Would love to see this for handhelds... and made by framework. Until then, very neat concept and solid execution.
Everyone: checks the price and immediately closes the tab :))))
I love ZTT, and I'm glad you guy's are doing so well. LTT graduates are awesome. I wish we could get a stand alone Mac Address channel but we're doing pretty good anyhow.
what is that lamp next to the desk tho?
