Great video, and information Betty! How are you ripping your DVD's, and aren't they compressed when using a MP4 or MKV file format?

Amazing, this is like what owning media should look like. You bought it, now it's yours, forever. Have not seen but the first chunk of the video but this would be amazing for videogames also and for books since corpo is keen on editing them eventhough you already bought them

Being disabled, I am using a laptop. I am running Jellyfin on my PC with Fedora. It is also a Blender render and backup server.

For all of the DVD plastic cases, I take all of my DVDs out of the case and place them in a Case Logic folder, the art work goes into a big envelope, I keep 20 DVD cases just in case, and recycle all of the plastic DVD cases. This frees up SO much room and those DVD case are not necessary unless you plan on trading in your DVDs right away. Also no need for a NAS if you are mainly using a server for movies and music. A DAS works just as well with a small stand along PC running ZimaOS or a big desktop PC you can put a few hard drives in. You just need to buy the correct DAS so your computer sees all of your drives and make it one big drive. Saves money all around.

Would have loved a comment or two on keeping everything updated, and on backup strategy (and restore). Thanks!

Do wish you focused more on the free/foss services but these are good with what you mentioned. I'm just strugglijg to find hdd's for a reasonable price. If ik what i was doing I'd start on my rpi4 with one of my old ext drives ig until i can find a deal on 4 drives of the same size at least 😅

Getting Audio Books that don't have DRM can be a bit issue. And that is the worse part about where we are... I'm not an avid reader but I have 17 volumes on my Kindle and 6 in iBooks. Trying to track down 23 books to repurchase is unfortunate. Lately I've started borrowing ebooks through the Library. I don't often re-read books so it works out really well. Immich is one of those things that when it works it is great... but as soon as it doesn't it is a nightmare. I lost my entire test library because it just refused to accept any password or give me anyway to access the server again. It has even crashed my server while "deploying". When it works great.. the second it doesn't you are basically screwed.
