Teflon tape is amazing used it a lot in plastic manufacturing you can use it on screws on the hot parts won’t melt

Even if you’re drilling at the correct speed if you drillbit is heating up just STOP let it cool down a little bit or put some lubricant on it. You can drill fast if you take breaks.

a steady stream of water to cool the bit and flush the shavings away is the best way... if i have to drill a bunch of holes in stainless and its something i can submerge in water ill also do that ... i use a small swimming pool .. but drilling through thin metal with a step bit is always easy

I use motor oil on the stepper bits. No need for lighter oil on those bits.
