I've just searched something adding -ai in the end and the results are so much better and more specific without the overly generic simplified text made by ai. Thankk you so much!
I searched up a popsicle and it used my exact location in its answer as to where I could find it. I just wanted a picture of it.
I work in a museum and a visitor started telling me and a coworker what he’d learned about our site. We hadn’t heard this particular fact he was sharing so he pulled up an ai summary of our site to show us. We have not been able to find the fact he was sharing or recreate the ai summary he was showing us. Which leads us to the thought… is ai making up stuff to show different individuals. Omg it’s not just alternative facts it’s individualized alternative facts.
I love Ecosia. They make money when you research and use it to PLANT TREES. It doesn't seem like a scam so far, seems to be one of the good things out there happening.
It’s time to start going to the library and finding books that give you information on what you’re trying to research.
They say ai is hallucinating when it is blatantly lying. On a daily, consistent basis. With 100% conviction.
Part of the reason people are having more complicated searches has to be that the search results are just so bad these days. Majority of the time now when I use google for something that isn't just a business lookup (and sometimes even then!) I end up having to rephrase my search several times, only to keep getting the same handful of results pushed on me regardless of how I try to reframe it. Adding an AI summary should be something you request, not automatic. I don't need a summary of the three nearest restaurants near me, I just need to know what they are.
It's always good to bite the hand that feeds you, someday they will miss the sites they lose.
The fact we're having to hack the search engine to make it do something it had always done before because the company that ran it has shat the bed is insane.
Hey vsauce, Micheal here
0:12 Hey Vsauce, wait you're not Michael Vsauce😂😂😂
2:07 ohhhhhh you do not want to be recommending ecosia. the reason it plants trees is to greenwash its massive AI use and try to brand itself as "green AI". don't fall for that slop.
This is nice, thanks for the other options! I've been putting before:2020 (works on YT as well) to make sure I get no ai. Doesn't work well when I want updated information, but it brings up a lot of good older videos to watch.
You look like Vsauce's sane identical twin
Tomorrow is today, and nothing has happened to the Google search bar. I keep hearing about how it's going to change any day now. Not looking forward to it.
I just want the old style search back where if I search for x it gives me pages about x. No pages about y because it thinks that's what I actually wanted. No pages about axes because it thinks I mistyped. And give me back my search operators so I can search for something -otherthingIdon'twant and "literal phrase I'm looking for" I'm not stupid, I know what I'm looking for so stop trying to be smarter than me and giving me what you think I want
“If it ain’t broke, we’re not trying hard enough.” That seems to be Google’s motto.
I wish every single company ever would stop thinking ai solves everything edit: OH MY GOD THEY JUST MADE IT SO IF YOU PUT “-AI” AT THE END OF A SEARCH, NOTHING COMES UP. THIS METHOD WORKED EARLIER TODAY edit 2: after further testing, it seems that may have been a fluke. some things turn up nothing when i put “-ai” at the end, but some things work. idk why.
I used the AI overview without thinking once, when I googled how to do something in a video game, and it was fully 100% wrong. like, I can't express how incorrect the instructions were.
