Fun fact, hover mowers are still made and used today. One of the best for maintaining steep grades with turf so you dont mark it up with mower wheels.
My parents owned one in the 70's. It was called a 'Fly-Mo' and had more lift than a Huey. The only way my dad could mow the lawn is if my younger sister sat on the cross brace to add some weight. Total crap as a lawn mower, but it was great entertainment 😂
When safety was merely a suggestion.
Oh how times have changed. Dudes out there mowing in a suit
These did occasionally take flight
The only mower you had to take away from your kids
most golf courses use these to mow their pond banks and steep hills. still very much available and used today.
How Crocs were invented by accident.

My friend has one more than 40 years
I had a petrol Flymo one years ago. Absolutely awesome. Great for steep banks. Tie a rope to the handle. lower it down and pull it back up working your way along
I used to mow the bank behind the house with a flymo on a rope.
Remembering seeing these twenty years back.
What is the song?
I remember the Qualcast ad for the Concorde 😂 “it’s a lot less bother with a hover.” Except it was electric so you still had to avoid the cord. Now I have a ride on mower, suddenly I’m wondering if I could modify a small hovercraft into a mower 🤣
LOVED THE OLD FLYMO MOWER .
Kids these days dont even go outside anymore...
Used them along water edges at golf courses
I still got one. Called a hover mower, works beautifully on flat areas however you would need a long extension 😀
