Seeing actors with their original teeth is so rare these days. It is refreshing to watch movies from my childhood and seeing mouths with character

bring back randos and college students fresh off the street instead of a fully starred studded a-list cast!! 😿

i think it’s completely unfair how male actors are the only ones who are allowed to not be attractive but yet they are pushed as heart throbs while actresses have to be perfect and if they are older they have to get work done to not show signs of aging

I wonder how much of this is also that there are less roles for unknown actors in general. The “death of the mid budget movie” has been a topic of conversation for a while (although I think we do still get great mid budget movies, just less regularly)

As someone with acne, I absolutely love it when actors and actresses don't have completely airbrushed skin, especially in movies or shows about teenagers. In my opinion, it doesn't make them ugly at all, it makes the whole story feel much more immersive and enjoyable.

its the sheer amount of microexpressions we are losing in acting bc of the botox disease. its so refreshing to see them when you watch anything that aint american made.

I saw a post recently of someone complaining they couldn’t get into When Harry Met Sally because Billy Crystal wasn’t attractive and it really got me thinking about how we barely see “normal” faces on screen anymore - and yet I think it’s one of the reasons why I love the film so much (other than it’s great writing of course) but because having normal-looking actors without Instagram face makes the film feel so much more real

I think Breaking Bad did a good job casting regular looking people and using makeup to make people look worse to reflect the subject matter.

I’ll never forget this one tweet I saw of Colin Ferrel in the Penguin tv show, all covered in prosthetics and a fat suit, and someone replied that 10-20 years ago, you could just find 20 actors that looked like that rather than transform a hot actor into a middle aged, overweight Italian man. I miss what actors were kinda ugly.

She literally SAID shes not actually calling these ppl ugly shes using it hyperbolically. Yall are missing the point saying “well not UGLY we just want normal ppl!” you are making the same point she is 😭

Just saw Obsession and all my friends and I can't stop talking about how amazed we were by the lead actress' range of facial expressions and movements - it really makes or breaks a film

Hard agree with actors being pressured to “not perform ugly”. I’m thinking about how Millie Bobby Brown was ridiculed for that one clip from stranger things 4 back in 2022. Some people online label emotional performances as “cringe” or turn them into memes. I think that’s hurt sincere acting across the board.

I adore this conversation because it brings up the subjective nature of what true beauty is outside of Eurocentric beauty standards. I for one *LOVE* big/curved noses, is that for everyone no but it doesn’t make it any less beautiful in my eyes. Great video as always lovely! 🥰🫶🏾😂

Thank you for not naming and shaming people’s bodies! This is the first time I’ve seen a social commentator do this online. Most people will mention names when talking about the thinness of Hollywood. And I think it does no one any good. We can talk about trends without naming and shaming.
