Joe has lost a lot of weight recently. I hope he's doing okay and that the pressure and stress of Doomsday and Secret Wars isn't getting the better of him.

As they're talking about the characters interacting with each other, a stand out yet subtle one in Civil war was after the funeral Natasha and Cap meet..And Cap tries to justify to her that he can't in good conscience sign the accords..to which she said, "I know..." Cap, "Then why are you here?" Natasha, "Because I didn't want you to be alone.." then she hugs him as a loyal friend even though they're on opposite sides of the accords issue. So small...so subtle but great deep interpersonal moment from these 2 characters.

in fact stark was always more a villain than a hero in my opinion so if he was a doom variant i mean it makes sense!and civil war to me was the moment where stark was more close to his doom biological genetic nature persona!

25:50 I like the comments about Zemo attacking the *emotional vulnerabilities* of the heroes , which is actually threatening and interesting. Contrast this to Ultron - basically a giant robot, that, when the plot got tired of him, had Thor and Vision unite and blow him up. That was simply NOT interesting. That's the kind of shallow and corny super hero story that has led to fatigue with the whole genre. The comparison I think is interesting because after Civil War the Russo's and not Joss Whedon were chosen to carry forth with Avengers: Infinity WAr
*How Secret Wars can work.* As with Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet…. Don’t try to translate the comic literally to screen. Thanos taken literally has a school boy crush on a skeleton chick. It’s silly as hell. So you looked deeper into the underlying meaning of the story: Thanos as a cosmic entity of death. Death as a cosmic force that counterbalance life and is essential for continued existence. You made Thanos nihilism accessible to audiences without turning it into something patronizingly aimed only at kids. Do the same with Secret Wars. At root Secret Wars is about characters experiencing multiple realities. What happens when those realities conflict with each other? How, if possible, does the conflict get resolved? That’s the story, and not the silliness in the comics. Molecule Man, Battle World, Beyonders, earths physically colliding which somehow can destroy the Universe……. And the MCU McGuffins such as anchor beings. All of that nonsense needs to be set aside if the film is to be taken seriously by audience other than comic book nerds. I’m worried on this front because Fantastic Four took Galactus literally, and then turned him into a ridiculous “Kaiju” as a result. i don’t even think Kevin understands what he did here, that went so wrong. Doomsday needs to fix this kind of mistake.

Terrific interview! I loved hearing these two very gifted directors talk about their craft and revealing some of what it’s like being in the business and creative process for the biggest and arguably greatest of the MCU’s movies. I consider the Russo Bro’s to be the greatest cbm directors ever, surpassing even the acclaimed cbm movies of Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, and James Gunn.
