The evil was so nuanced cause every child had his evil. It’s so Greek. The play ends differently but I’m torn between which ending is best.

I feel that it was fair and necessary that Racine died because she was too prone to. I would say she contributed to much to continuing the trauma by her understandable but dangerous violent reactions to it. I feel that she would have perpetuated this and her sister would not have ever been able to be free from it. There’s righteous anger and then there’s murderous rage.

There were hints of Racine dying because of every promise she made to Anya. Anya said you swear to god or you'll be struck down. Also Vivicka character knew Anya was pregnant.

I love how Nick qoutes that line: these girls be burning. Because when black people use BE, it can mean burning right now, burned in the past, or that they like to burn, or that they burn all the time, past and future... Heartbreaking.
Great recap! I was shocked that the father saw his 2 dead children, and made a sandwich. That is completely psycho. Also, Janelle's character was leaving the husband AND her sons. She was done with all of them! The ending shook me!
I appreciate this channel's dedication to bringing up Freeway every now and then. When Witherspoon was arrested in that DUI video, I realized that she wasn't even acting in Freeway. - Anyways, though, Is God Is was amazing, and I can't wait to see what Harris and the two leads do next. Edit: In the play, the mom and the surviving sister have a scene at the end, and it provides a more somber conclusion to the story than the filmed version.
The last time Erika and Vivica were in anything together was an episode of Living Single. I love them both, and they have always been a couple of my favorite Black actresses. I feel they don’t get enough credit for how amazing they are at their craft. I am glad to see them in this, getting the shine they have deserved for a long time now.
