All Thanos has to do is create proper supply routes. No joke we have enough to solve world hunger but the problem is proper supply routes

The ending of Eternals hinted that Thanos was one of there kind. Which I believe was to set up his main goal for halving the population in the universe was to prevent any new Celestials from being born (or at least prolonging thr time before another is born)

The comics reason kinda made more sense, it was just to impress lady death

I always imagined "Doubling" the Universes Resources as pretty much creating new planets that have more of the resources that the Universe needs.

Honestly, I feel like Thanos knew about the Celestials and was trying to prevent more from hatching.

People are also resources, sometimes more important than oil or apples. This is why money (on a well working system) generally represents all the services offered for it, rather than raw resources.
