All that you've explained is what I had hoped to see with maresca but we got the opposite. So I really hope to see the movement and fluidity throughout the team with Xabi as the manager.

This question might come off simple. A lot of tactical content creators are saying formation does not matter but to me, it significantly affects the profiles you get on the pitch and the areas they occupy. A video on when formations matter and when they don’t would be a good one.

What excites me about Alonso is his pragmatism, he is wedded to a style of play but not to a formation and as such has the capacity to switch up the formation, he did this a lot at Madrid. It reminds me a lot of Ancelotti, who has been tactically fluid throughout his career. My personal preference is for a 3 at the back, but i can certainly see our playing possible 2/3 different formations next season but with the same underlying principles. As a fan based we need to let this guy cook, ill be giving him a year and judging him in his second season once his ideas have taken foot.

The tactical flexibility of Cucurella & Hato on the left and Reece and Acheampong on the right I think will be key to making this all work.

bro i think alonso must fix them cause they are quality players but i think every chealsea manager that was before alonso this season is guardiola wannabe and thats why it was so easy to counter cause every manager studies guardiola but guardiola himself change his tactics every season

Why is everyone so confident he'll play with wingbacks? There is a serious chance it doesn't happen. We're basically using his Leverkusen as template and saying we predicted stuff.
