My problem with analysis like this is that it assumes passive management and not active management. It assumes a manager implemented a base system, and it stayed consistent over a long period, and so every game is weighted equally. That has simply not been the case. Mbeumo has interpreted the role of ST differently to Sesko for example. How the team progresses when Martinez is there vs when he isn't is different. How Dorgu played LW, how Cunha started LW and how he adapted to LW are all different. Trying to draw sweeping conclusions about this without these nuances makes it feel a little undercooked. Not indicative of what Carrick's performance is likely to be next year, and really kind of highlights the limitations of stats based analysis (not that I think that doesn't have it's place).
Man Utd hires coach, coach does well in first season, players down tools in 2nd, coach gets sacked, repeat.
They have been playing one game a month. They rest more than the rest of the league let's see next when they have to play every three days
Michael carrick played a slow possession dominant football at middlesbourogh. He is experienced enough to be pragmatic to fit the squad he has at united. Great manager.
Y'all have started. He's playing a game suited to the current squad. There's evidence of him playing a more possession oriented approach. But you forget that Man United historically don't play one way. We play in the way that works best against the opponent. Style of play talks make absolutely no sense. There's also no coach that's better that is available. Unless you can convince Pep which is as likely as Thierry Henry being player of the season next season. Also these same players that Amorim failed with are the one's Carrick did well with. So we can at least establish that having a "style of play" doesn't actually mean much. What's more important is the non-negotiable principles and how you adapt in games, all of which Carrick has shown. These days, Man United fans prefer hypotheticals more than actual results.
The thing is who will they appoint? Luis Enrique they tried but he wants be at psg and apart from him none brings guaranteed results except pep, klopp, ancelotti who won't join then we have the likes of ireola who have systems which won't suit us or big clubs. This was the only real option till someone else emerges
Im sorry but at 0:11 on the first chart, neither sides wins/draws/losses adds up to 12 games. What is going on there??
xG doesn't take into account who did the chance fall to.
Analyst: "United are overperforming their XG and their XG isn't enough" While uniteds XG under Carrick is 1.73 and score 1.93 per match, and only city is above them in XG which is 1.83 per match and score 2.05 per match. So what does the whole team need to improve then? the whole league doesn't create enough XG, or is the whole league over performing?
He has a point but the quality of our attempts has highly improved for example we could have easily beaten Forest by 5 goals last weekend. I believe once we fix the mid field and defence, will be greater next season.
The main point about Exccel Football is that you don’t look the pitch. Amorim could create numbers, but he has no relacionism. The team was always an easy prey. United used to shoot a lot, but with low quality, always trapped on the defense or with no room for a good shot. Just Like Guardiola teams, or Klopp’s Liverpool, who shoot a lot with no clear view of the goal, this was Amorim United. Also, take a look of the xG of the kicks itself and not the general xG of the team. Sesko and Cunha always had low xG kicks with Amorim, and high xG kicks with Carrick. Also, United players are right now in their right places. Cunha and Sesko should be close to the goal and have their kicks. Bruno shoul be in the Attack Midfielder, cause his passes can broke the last defense line. There’s a lot more to speak about it, i should make a video about it
Makes sense why Ole never won a trophy. When opponents doesn't make any mistakes they can't score from counter attacks. Carrick will win us many games, but trophies is a huge doubt.
This reminded me why I stopped watching these type of videos a long time ago😂
Another important point is football is played by humans with emotions. It doesnt help if your manager says stuff like " He was anxious on the ball" or " he is not good enough" in public. The system cant address human behavior and psyche. Another point is emotion. Whenever Amorim's team conceded their heads dropped and it looked that they would always concede more. However that changed under Carrick. Think Arsenal Away, Liverpool at Home, Palace at Home, Villa away, Forest at home. Anytime they got pegged back they strived to create more and win the game which was not the case under Amorim. Also if youre a good team you will overperform your xg. Thats the difference between a quality player and an average premier league player. A quality player can get you a goal worth 0.11 xg 6/10 times. An average player maybe 2/10 times. Thats a very important distinction
The system isn’t static. Carrick can play a more possession based football, when given the right players n
Whenever tacticos say a certain United manager's tactics are unsustainable, it ends up being by far the most sustainable football I've seen post Fergie. And on the other hand, the "sustainable" football ends up being so bad that it breaks records you never want to break. Certain clubs just need a different style of manager and I think Carrick fits United better than anyone could
Brother, I think you have done a good job to explain why Carrick is excelling. The work you've done to clothe Carrick's style is like what I would get if I gave ChatGPT the job of polishing my LinkedIn profile and turns the word Janitor into "Facilities Preservation Specialist." As a United fan, I know what this is; taking pain killers for a problem that requires surgery. Amorim had a good system that could rival the elite teams of Europe but the board could not be arsed to give him the players to make the system work. And, Amorim did not lose his post because he had poor results, as your video seems to insinuate; he got fired because he called out the board's incompetence. I don't want Carrick, but I guarantee you for all the good things you have said in this video, the board are not going to back him and build him a squad that can compete. Then when things go to shit, they'll hang him up to dry, and bring in a new manager, for whom tacticos like you will do videos telling us how they'll succeed at United only for the board to do to them what they've done to every other manager.
Carrick first 12 Games: ( 8 + 5 + 2 = 15 games ) vs Ruben Last 12 Games ( 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 games) : D

xG overperformance can also be explained simply by having elite level players. Son overperformed his xG at Spurs by a crazy amount for 3-4 years in a row because he was just a very good finisher. Cunha and Mbuemo especially have proven this over more than just this season.
