At the weekend Manchester United produced an emphatic attacking display to defeat Brighton 3-0. Carrick's midfield options for this game were reduced, however he was still able to produce a genius tactical display to get the best out of Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo! I'm happy Mount is getting credit. He showed his quality.
It makes me more confident in the idea of a Mateus Fernandes x Mainoo midfield duo
Kobbie was elite yesterday. He steadily grew into this season and now is looking as good as pre-Euro.
I think Mainoo won't be able to look back at Amorim's term with grace until a while into the future. But I believe his insistence on expecting Kobbie to develop deep play making skills alongside his incredible box to box skills, caused him to develop some unique traits. It also removed a sense of complacency and entitlement a lot of youngsters ended up acquiring by showing attrition. Kobbie will be a much better player for it, and Amorim, despite his severe mistreatment and deficiencies as a man manager might have unintentionally helped out Kobbie be a mentality monster needed for champions league aspirations. This is just my opinion based on his playing data and skills since Amorim's firing
I know being a former midfielder, Carrick understands the things needed to be done. I only pray that the board fully financially support him in the transfer market
Enrique and PSG has proven that you don’t need the most physical midfielders to dominate the midfield and the game. I will take good Technical midfielders over physical and athletic ones
This channel should have 1m + subscribers. Brilliant insight
mount mainoo played really well yesterday, but their pairing arent long term solutions. brightons midfield had milner (40 year old) and gross (35 years old), less physical/athletic than what united will face regularly. but mount could still play cm/cdm depending on the types of opponents united will face
Mount is a wonderful footballer, unfortunately he is too injured.
dont let ineos see this video otherwise they might think mount could be a CM option and only buy us 2 midfielders
that is how a good box to box midfield complements each other. I've been crying for this revolution for so long, just get the best individuals and you will all see. If we are to keep 60% of the ball next season we don't need a destroyer
If only Mount could give us more games. He is a great footballer
Carrick performing wizardry in midfield from the sidelines too
If he willing to play Mount in midfield then we should buy Wharton and play him next to Kobbie
dont sell mount he can be bruno back up
My question is why didn't it work even a single duel wasn't successful vs Sunderland? Did it work coz Brighton were caught off guard? Carrick has been coaching wins but why do these players collectively collapse out of the blue? No matter if we win or lose Carrick's ideas to me are usually visible but the execution especially in that Sunderland game was disgusting. Maybe I'm reading too deep into it when Sadiki and Sangare were just up for the challenge that day
Aj Aj how many times have I called you.....the consistent is sth else, kudos 🙌🔥 GGMU
Mainoo is pure class❤
I also noticed the CBs stepping up into midfield to make tackles like we used to do under Amorim. Maguire got caught out once or twice though but I thought that was interesting since Mount was pushing up so much.
Mason Mount is that guy for me anytime a team is playing low-block defense: good link-up play, good passer of the ball, good ball progression. He has just been affected with injuries but next season I pray we see the best of Mason. Great guy
