I’m an OSU graduate and I live about 12 minutes from campus. Our band is known as “The Best Damn Band in the Land!” The kids in the band work extremely hard, and it is an honor to be a part of the band at OSU…they are highly respected! The half-time shows are always amazing!!! Maybe you can come and visit sometime! it’s a really fun experience…and the football team is awesome, too!🙂
The guy in the red, with the baton, is called the drum major.
I went to see Michael Jackson in concert in Dallas, TX in the 1984. I was working in Houston and a physician that I was working with gave me the ticket. I knew it would be a great concert but it was in a class all of it's own. To this day it is still the best concert that I have ever gone to - and i have been to a lot. His natural charisma flooded the place. His dancing skills and the way he could move his body was beyond belief and his voice and music belongs in its own genre. There will never be another like him.
Michael Jackson in his younger years did the James Brown splits.
The big cluster of red was the choir. The audio was low, but they were singing the song “man in the mirror” while the band performed the music.
The "Conductor" as you call him is actually called the "Drum Major" for most marching bands.
Tanks, is everyone in NZ as adorable as your family?Love your channel😊 Michael is king!⭐️🇺🇸😘

When I was a young girl walking home from High School you could hear the marching band practicing every on the school football field, I MEAN EVERY DAY!
Love the smile on your Mum's face as soon as the band started playing! 😄
They do a new routine every home game during the season.
Y'll should see the one where Ohio State does a tribute to different movies. Y'all would like that one as well.
This is phenomenal! Unbelievable synchronization!
Mum would love the tribute to Blockbuster Movies that you watched with Willow. It's actually my favorite! Mum, highschoolers do this too :). We also have band competitions and the bands could also include dancers, baton twirlers, and flag twirlers. Try swinging a flag around in patterns, throwing and catching them while moving into formation and not drop them because a gust of wind comes up at the wrong moment or hit yourself in the head, hit someone in the head or get hit by someone's flag because they lost control of it all while to the beat of the music. I was on the flag line for my high school band. I wish I'd learned an instrument back in the day. Most if not all of these students have been playing instruments since they were Willow's age. Honestly, nobody is looking at the drum major/conductor until they're actually facing him or her. This is hours and hours of practice.
I'm an Ohioan, and most of my family are OSU graduates/alumni. We are so proud of our Ohio State Marching Band, also known as "The Best Damn Band In The Land". The "Skull Sessions" are fun to watch, too. Thank you for featuring The OSU Marching Band. ❤😁
The Ohio State Marching Band is called "The Best Damn Band in the Land" for good reason!
Your mom is a natural.
Hours and hours of practice. By this point, they could probably this with their eyes closed. You count steps, watch for your marks, like how far you are from a certain yard marker, and just play your heart out. The first couple of months are a definite chore, but once you have your steps and marks down and have your music memorized, you're golden.
The leader of the marching band while on the field/parades is called a Drum Major
Thanks for sharing this!😊
