Rat seen scurrying in MRT carriage; SMRT responds

Train operator SMRT has said it will be stepping up pest control measures, after a video circulating online showed a rat scurrying through a train cabin on the East-West Line. In response to CNA queries on Monday (May 25), SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai said the company is aware of the sighting. He said that rats may occasionally enter trains through platforms, track areas or gaps between train cars, adding that trains are thoroughly cleaned daily when they return to depots. SMRT also reminded commuters not to eat or drink on trains and at stations as food remnants may attract rats and other pests. #singapore #sgnews Subscribe to our channel here: https://cna.asia/youtubesub Visit our website: https://cna.asia Download our app: https://cna.asia/app Get our editors' picks of stories via chat apps: Telegram: https://cna.asia/telegram WhatsApp: https://cna.asia/whatsapp Follow us on these platforms: https://www.facebook.com/channelnewsasia https://www.instagram.com/channelnewsasia https://www.tiktok.com/@channelnewsasia
