I will get you a great deal on home solar (or add a quality battery to your existing setup): https://autoexpert.com.au/solar I can also save you thousands on a new car: https://autoexpert.com.au/contact Nissan used to be one of the default Japanese car brands in Australia. Today? Not so much. In this video, I take a blunt look at whether buying a new Nissan in 2026 still makes sense — given the company’s recent financial losses, collapsing Australian sales, past engineering disasters like early Leaf battery degradation and Pathfinder CVT failures, and the awkward reality of the new Navara being essentially a Mitsubishi Triton in Nissan drag. This is part one of a two-part series. Here, we look at the bigger-picture sanity check: Nissan’s product problems, sales decline, weakening brand position, Chinese-brand competition, and whether the value equation still stacks up against alternatives like Jaecoo, Omoda, Chery and others. In part two, we’ll look at one owner’s confronting real-world experience — and why the way car companies and dealers treat people after the sale matters just as much as the brochure, the badge and the glossy launch video. Buying a Nissan in 2026? Maybe look very carefully before stepping off that particular cliff. #Nissan #Navara #XTrail #Pathfinder #Leaf #AutoExpert #JohnCadogan #CarAdvice #ConsumerLaw #NewCarsAustralia

You've told us many times what not to buy, any chance you could tell us which cars we should be buying ???
Looking good John. 1980 every second person had a datto. 120Y for the chicks, 180B for the blokes with many other models to play with. Nissan was main player presenting with good affordable reliable cars. What happened. Very sad.
CVTs ended this company
IMO the quality of Nissan has taken a slow but steady decline since the so called strategic Nissan, Renault, Mitsubishi alliance some 26 ish years ago.
Great, I just picked up my 2026 Patrol Y62 Warrior 1 day ago. great timing!😢
If they had leant into their motorsport heritage a lot more with the model lineup and relaunched the Patrol cab chassis ute as a Y62, they might've made it.
Holey Moley John , you have lost a lot of weight , I hope you are ok .
You’ve lost weight seems
3 letters that destroyed Nissan. CVT
People blaming the CVT… no it wasn’t. So many companies have had bad transmissions, bad engines, diesel gate, emissions issues, leading to engine failures.. Nissan failed because of mismanagement. CVT certainly didn’t help but it wasn’t it. I mean, the CEO hid himself in a suitcase to escape Japan and charges…
The root at Nissan seem to be setting in back in early 2000’s when I realised replacing my Pulsar SSS was impossible; not only had they destroyed the SSS lineage but the entire Pulsar ‘brand’
Owned a 1971 240C station wagon, optical fibre from the rear brakes to twin red indicators above the rear view mirror, fold uprear facings seats with belts for kids. Great car.
They fell apart decades ago, at least in the US. As unreliable as a Dodge
Jaecoo is a budget brand, questionable safety in a crash. You're comparing a Louis vuitton wallet to a billabong velcro wallet. Japanese safety and reliability is more important than price.
Just a brainfart: People are praising the BYD shark but that engine also cries at full rpm to keep the battery loaded? Just like idiotic CVT’s?
Alas poor Nissan I knew you soo well !
in the United States at least, Nissan's brand has been a disaster for more than 20 years. people buy one when they cannot qualify for loans anywhere else, and they have at least one open felony warrant and owe several months of child support.
Nissan/ Datsun made some great cars - i had a 180b when i was younger. Mates had 1600's, Skylines. Godzilla is a great car. Now they make shit
Love my 2025 Y62, bonus points that its costing me less in fuel running 95 than the '21 BT50 it replaced.
It’s tragic… always been a Nissan man… own a R32 GT-R and a GQ Patrol… Make Nissan Great Again!!!
