The Coalition came in with quite the playbook here Immediately be antagonistic to tempt the D-Family into outrage (that whole, "The Hunter Data is more important than Fatigue and Marckus" business), to further feed into their desperation. They *know* they're coming at this from a position of power, so getting D and Co to immediately become emotional helped in lowering their guard and getting them to the point where they'd openly say "We're willing to do whatever it takes". And let's be honest here, even if they woulnd't have said that outright, the Coalition could've easily played the card of "Oh, don't you care for your son though? Aren't you willing to do whatever it takes?" From then on out, it was a step-by-step process of grinding the Family down - The Union are obviously the most reasonable, but they also set ground rules. The Family makes the first steps towards giving up autonomy and becoming part of an organization. I'm sure in the greater scheme of things, the Union wouldn't have given a damn about them. This was just to implant the idea that they're willing to give up their freedom. - The Swede was the next step, in ensuring that the Family would cooperate, even on matters of the supernatural, such as handing over Black Shuck, should they capture him. There's also the matter of opening the door when it comes to personal sacrifice. Signing Marckus over to "temporary" medical supervision was the first step in planting the seeds that the D Family would be willing to give up individual members for the sake of rescuing Marckus. - The Coalition then ramped it up to what was basically a pre-amble to the knockout punch that would come next. Deposit D in London, stuff Kitten into a cubicle. Still managable, still "reasonable", but more and more individual freedoms are being stripped away by the signature. As D and Co later said when discussing the Gladius Dei, it'd be a major pain in the behind and unfortunate for the involved parties, but there'd still be ways to get things back into order. The family would be splintered, but even this could be overcome. - The PMC, however, was supposed to deliver the killing blow. After all the prior concessions made, with barely two squads promised alongside *maybe* getting some Unionists involved, they laid out what this was all about. All the prior signatures were a sham, a show soften up D and his family for the *actual* contract: Sign over EVERYTHING. Your property. Your bodies. Your souls. The Union, the Swede, the Coalition, they were all just there to prepare for the final strike that would've basically eliminated D and his Family as a factor on the playing field... I'm sure they were hoping to finally rid themselves of a thorn in their sides. Break the family apart, keep them apart, break their wills and put an end to their hunting and struggles. Though, as others have pointed out, as satisfying as Door's reveal of the O'Tolley situation was and the PMCs involvement with the Worm, it also put a MASSIVE target on the family's collective backs. Potentially even on the whole Yarmout Chapter House. Sure, they voided those previous contracts that could've been used to pull them in at a later date, when desperation had set in more deeply, but evidently that marked the Family as essentially Persona non-grata As Wernon pointed out, the Wyrm will not tolerate opposition to its entropy. It could very well be that D and Co have made themselves - even if unknowingly - unofficial (though likely soon, official) enemies of the Coalition.

i find it facinating that 4 orgnisations present basically want to just hire the familiy as compensation. Mutual hatred and vitriol aside, people knowing about and willing to confront the supernatural seem to be in high demand

Moral of the story; dealing with werewolves might result in loss of limb and/or life, but at least chances are pretty high you'll keep your soul. The same cannot be said of dealing with the Coalition

The Merc lady doing her best to come off as cordial and friendly in a customer service way even though the stims have her at a resting heart rate of 200BPM is honestly doing things to my brain.
