So basically the conversation with Sophie confirms a few things in the greater lore, namely that all of unknown worlds games are in an interconnected universe. Unknown worlds first game series "natural selection" had you playing as TSF marines against Kharaa mutants. What we can gather here is subnautica 1 is the prequel to natural selection, Ryley cured himself of Kharaa but introduced Alterra to both Kharaa and the Architect technology and so Alterra turned Kharaa into a bioweapon which backfired and started to spread uncontrolled leading to natural selection 1 & 2. Subnautica 2 takes place around natural selection 2 if not after where Alterra starts realizing that they are losing and they send out mass colony ships with biobed colonists to basically reestablish man-kind elswhere so humanity still lives. For whatever reason the cicada crashes on Proteus, and per the logs we crashed at least 27yrs ago.

14:38 Ryley was the player in Subnautica 1. Talking about the architects and how they store bodies in stasis.

15:48 so to answer your question, in sub zero there was a leviathan class creature that still had the kharaa virus Altera was taking samples back to study and most likely weaponize it

29:53 the air bladder trick is when you dash right when you are about to come out of the water and it launches you in the direction you are looking

You can plant plants. You have to build your own growbed though, you can't plant the plants in the abandoned bases growbeds. The devs should really make all these things you find in abandoned bases look broken or busted.

"The call of the running tide is wild and clear" is a quote from the poem "Sea Fever" by John Masefield. I suppose Sophie was familiar with Masefield's work and decided to name Macefield's syndrome after him: the call of the ocean.

15:38 ryley isn't the reason for Karaa spreading, as it was already space borne, but Altera in BZ was experimenting on it and even mutating it. Altera most likely brought it back to earth trying to capitalize on it, but released it instead. Killing humans on earth.

too bad he didn't build a bio lab, or go back to the one in the welcome center for that matter, to see the new bio-mods he unlocked with his new scanner.

30:27 Terry can go faster if you go through those blue coral hoops. Bit like a mini mass effect relay. Only works with Terry though.

The Air Bladder trick is OP only early game (it's craftable in like the first 2 minutes of the game lol). Afterwards however, when you get into the deep down dark deep down it's not as great except for the extra bit of air I guess. I guess it's also a big upwards dash too so maybe good for a one time evade but then you need to get to a source of air to refill it...

"Cryptors lurk beneath the tree, they fear you" to clarify, they DO NOT fear us (the players), they fear the Architect species from Subnautica 1 & Below Zero that the message was INTENDED for
