couldnt agree more with Kanes call re flopping and the game getting soft. Referees have hijacked the game and have lost control, with too much influence on the game. umpires have no idea of how much theyre influencing the game and the AFL have let this go unchecked for too long.
Football fans would be more forgiving if an umpire made a poor decision based on the traditional instincts of the game rather than a ridiculous interpretation of poor rules.

As a lifelong port supporter, I appreciated Ken's period of relative success but all things must come to an end and it makes sense for him to finish up during a period where they knew their window had closed. You need to consider what Port actually did last year noting they didn't have a F1 pick to begin with. Instead of trading into the 2025 draft, they have tried to prospect some talent from rookie list / mid season draft and retained draft capital for 2026 and 2027. There has been some success here (Josh Lai looks okay, as does Mackinley) By 2028 it will be a new look Port with Doug Cochrane, Zemes Pilot, Louis Salopek, Tevita Rodan and a suite of other first round picks (expecting butters to end up being 3x F1s). I agree it will be 2-3 years before the rise, but would rather Port's list over Essendon, Collingwood etc.

Kane is right, the first quarter of Giants v Lions featured some of the worst umpiring I've seen, tiggy touchwood free kicks that could have been paid either way. Players being rewarded for diving. We're actually reaching the stage where umpires are ruining matches, you know a good umpire when you don't notice them but they are way too prominent at the moment. Put your egos away umpires & return to the background where you belong.
Why do they waste the first hour of this show talking complete nonsense? And then they rush through or skip over half the games. Kane fancies himself as the AFL version of Bill Simmons. Bill doesn't spend the first hour of his pod talking about what he had for dinner and which celebrity he saw on a plane.
