In Finnish, words mean what they mean. For example, sauna means sauna. It does not mean “emotional gravel.” Järvi means lake. It does not mean “a horse having doubts.” Kirves means axe. It does not mean “a small administrative sandwich.” However, haetaan lakkaa satamasta kun lakkaa satamasta means “let’s get cloudberries from the harbor when it stops raining.”

Sorry! Egypt does not come from Khemet. Egypt, the name, comes from the Greeks misspelling Hut Ka Ptah to Aigyptos which was actually the name for the temple of Ptah in the city of Memphis. But who would know, right?

derived from Proto-Germanic *stakka. The Germanic word is cognate with English stack and originally denoted a pile or heap, interpreted here as referring to an early sauna oven consisting of a pile of stones. The loan word would have developed into Proto-Finnic *sakna, from which the Finnish sauna later evolved

Actually in finnish spa, there is many types of saunas, and one of them is "turkish" sauna, where both men and women can go, and everyone is naked. But there is usually so much steam, that you cant see to much.

When did Finalnd become Scandinavian? Sure, somewhat culturally and politically, but Finland isn't a Scandinavian country. Since we're all technical here!
