Is it implying that the person who dropped the glass is too drunk and needs to get a taxi to go home?
Imagine being a foreigner in a bar and then 45 Australians yell "TAXI" all at once.
In the uk we say "WHEEEEY"
its a way of saying - time to go home, your pissed. taxi
I feel like this is Australian for "Had enough?'
In America, the bar, restaurant just claps 😅
I have a disability (degenerative demyelinating disorder) that for the longest time was an invisible disability. For me it causes parkinsonisms, the nerve damage in my peripheral nerves leads to rigidity, spasticity restless tremors and balance issues. But in my 20s no one really saw that I was "sick" they just thought I was fidgety and clumsy. I remember realising in my 30s "oh, people can *SEE* I'm disabled" because I used to trip and fall or knock something over in public and everyone would shout "Taxi!", but now when I fall or knock something over people scramble to ask "are you okay!?" or "I'm sorry, I should have put that glass on a solid surface instead of trying to hand it to you". I kind of miss people shouting "Taxi!".
I used to work in a restaurant and if someone that worked there broke something you would hear a sea of people yell "job opening"
Where i come from, in Norway, we just say "Skål!", menaing 'Cheers!'
I don't know why but my family does the same thing except for we yell oppa!!
I've never heard this?! 😮 it's 'sack the juggler' in my town in the UK 😅
If I had to guess... they're (jokenly) saying you're drunk and need a taxi cuz you shouldn't drive?
In the US, we applaud 👏👏👏
In Portugal we applaud and sometimes sing Happy Birthday
In the US we say “party foul” but this applies more to spilling a drink at a party than at restaurants
As Americans, we just give a round of applause. Yes, like at the end of a movie. I don't get it either
How is it just so universal to just be yelling something whenever someone breaks a glass 😂
We usually yell "Party Foul!" Or "Opa!" Despite not being Greek etc
We say that here in the uk. It would be ‘taxi for Toni’ etc 😂
I’m Aussie I never heard that one before
