I had almost the EXACT same experience when ten minutes after landing in San Francisco from Australia in 2000. We are the best of friends today and stay in touch often daily. He’s the funniest person I know and love him to bits.
That happened to us. A guy asked us if we needed help and he was an actor in the Raiders movie. He was a sweetheart!!! He showed us around London.

Having traveled quite a bit, if you are lucky, wonderful people from all over the world pop in and out of your life.
While in New York City and dealing with the subway, people who seeing our puzzlement offered to help. Every single person, from all backgrounds and “classes,” was helpful and friendly.

I and a classmate went to London in 2012 and we also only met nice people too. One guy said he would have invited us for a fish n chips dinner at his place if he didnt live so far away. This after a 5min conversation and me just politely asking for directions to a good place in central. Also met the nicest news paper/postcard salesman who I found out was blind and his son I think was helping him with the kiosk
Must be nice to be a guy. As a woman, I would never trust a guy to offer me a ride without something in return.
The good old 80's
I've always met the kindest people in London. If they have the slightest feeling that you're lost, they immediately offer you help. I even forgot my wallet once and didn't have enough money to pay everything I had chosen and the waitress offered me the rest for free ❤
