I once watched a British Pathè film from the 1940s about the steel works and heavy industry in Teeside, and it focused on how they used to join the huge steel plates together. It was riveting.
This was really interesting for me to watch, particularly the section on the Marton interchange works... because I designed the scheme! And I am now managing it.
A174 is a fabulous road! Any road that saves you having to undergo the delights and happy faces of Middlesborough needs to be appreciated
Can I take a minute just to appreciate Jon's attention to the audio in his videos. So many channels have extremely quiet audio these days, where you have to turn your TV up to 100 just to barely hear what's being said. Jon consistently ensures his videos are at around the -14 LUFS required for youtube during his editing (see Youtube's Stats for Nerds), and this is to be applauded 👏👏 Thank you Jon, for not only ensuring excellent videos for us to watch, but also clear and audible audio for us to hear. 👍
The road strategy for Teesside is when a bridge needs essential maintenance, reduce the speed limit by 20 mph, followed by doing sod all.

Problem on the A19? Probably caused by an accident at the Parkway Interchange 😒As you can imagine Jon we were just as shocked to find out the (then) recently closed Marton Hotel suddenly caught fire and burned to the ground and best not get into the scandal around the land that was left after Redcar steelworks was demolished, needless to say many pockets have been lined at our expense. Anyway, cracking video, nice to see another one here in the North East 👍🙂

I did a Toy Fair at the Marton Hotel back in 2001, It was dull, depressing and smelt vaguely of damp, Did ok with the takings though!
Great to see mention of the Marton Country Club (everybody called it the Marton Country Club, not its proper name The Marton Hotel and Country Club). In the early 1980s, I used to play in a band there on a Sunday lunchtime. It was a pretty seedy establishment even then. I moved to London in 1984, and didn't give the Club a thought until 2019, when it was burnt to the ground. To say the fire, occurring in a bankrupt and closed building, was 'suspicious' is a masterpiece of understatement.

props for going deep, yea was it the second Oil Crisis in '74 sent those plans into a tailspin? Later the area Unitary Authority was split up and forget a coordinated transport policy ever since.
