Its genuinely hilarious to me because the ENTIRE show Homelander thinks they have this divine rivalry and Butcher is like the Joker to his Batman and he almost likes Butcher in a twisted way. But the SECOND that Homelander loses his powers he sees their relationship for what it truly is "ohhhh fuck, wait, this guy is for reals gonna murder me...."
