Always negotiate if there is a possibility. Depending where you are working, you will be involved in projects that are critical for strategic future without being paid what you deserve.

Unfortunately with inflation the way it is you need constant raises just to keep your head above water.

Work will always increase but your salary won’t keep up with the increased workload. Negotiate for higher salary.

Never settle for a corporation. Loyalty is no longer rewarded. They won't reward you, they'll just exploit you.

Too many stories out there of Bosses that promised reward for service above and beyond, only to renege and appoint someone else above you.

Learn as much as you can from where you're at, then take those skills to an employer who will pay you more for them. Repeat. Management will always fight tooth and nail to either refuse your salary increase, or stagger it at such a snail's pace that it barely even outpaces inflation.

This is corporate shill bullshit. Any normal employer knows that people want to be paid more the longer they work somewhere or the more work they do. 99.9% of employers will hear you ask for a higher salary and understand that your being paid more is something you want, because as humans, they want it too. If you find yourself working for the one boss who doesn't understand that, then you need to find new work. I'm not saying walk into the office day one and demand a raise, and I'm not saying don't ever ask how you can be an asset to the company, but the idea that you shouldn't get down to brass tracks from time to time with your employer and request that you be rewarded for your continued time in the company's service is laughable. If you never ask for a raise, nine times out of ten you won't get one. "Don't ask me for a raise, ask me how you can better serve me.". It's a transactional relationship. It goes both ways.

Everytime a boss gives you a raise, he has this exact thought "damn, he is getting closer to the actual payment I should be giving him"
