The blanket octopus is one of the ocean's strangest creatures. The female unfurls a shimmering iridescent cape several times her body length when threatened, tearing it free if attacked. She is also immune to the sting of the Portuguese man o' war, hunting it deliberately to harvest its venomous tentacles, which she wields in her suckers as a living whip. The female grows to two metres. The male, the size of a fingernail. #marinebiology #wildlife #documentary #nature
