Ranchers, Wildlife, & Washington’s Crisis | WOLVES: True Conflict Episode 1

Nature and animals

Wolf populations in Washington state have made a dramatic comeback, the question now is, how do we manage wolves and at what cost? Wolves: True Conflict is a 40-minute documentary exploring the growing tensions between the rural community, wildlife conservation, long- time ranching operations, state officials, and state management policies. This film examines how wolf recovery in Washington state is impacting livestock, ecosystems, and rural livelihoods. As the US gray wolf issue intensifies, the documentary asks critical questions: How much can these rural ranching communities take until they are run dry? Who is going to take action? What wolf management steps need taken? And what happens next? This isn’t wolves vs ranchers, this is an issue based upon wolf management. This is reality over illusion. 🔔 Subscribe for more documentaries and real-world stories. 📌 Topics covered: Wolf populations in Washington State Livestock depredations and rancher perspectives Wildlife conservation policy and the Endangered Species Act The debate over gray wolf delisting State vs federal wildlife management If you would like more information or to learn how to help by signing our coalition check out our website: https://westernjustice.info/wolf 📣 Share your thoughts respectfully in the comments. #Wolves #Wildlife #Documentary #WashingtonState #Ranchers #WildlifeConservation #RanchingCommunities

According to my research, the effectiveness of LGD against wolf depredation is shown hugely advantageous. There was a small section on non lethal deterrence (~17:00). Im not suggesting this as a fix all. Obviously LGD dont have a seat at the bureaucracy table. But in terms of loss, compensation, selective hunting grounds, stress n behavior impacts to livestock etc....im always suprised when theres no mention of LGD utility be it good bad or otherwise. Statistically thats a no brainer option...i can only assume these depredation %s being mentioned are %s without LGDs employment...??

We have zero management too. No ones telling us how many and where were allowed to live or what were allowed to eat. Now i only say this to emphasis the point in the videos description "its not wolves vs ranchers" . So speaking objectively and factually means when we look at wolves as apex predators we cant objectively simply remove our ownselves as the ultimate apex predators of the world. I 100% agree with the part of the video where its a matter of "following our own rules. Its a precedent issue "...etc. ( 19:30 ish). This should apply across the board to include all the objective realities all the responsabilities all the fairness and follow through, all the honesty all the process all the punishment ..... we are the superior of species yet we continue to struggle understanding balance. As the superior elitism has overshadowed all other sense of responsibility for anything but self. A crucial disadvantage no other species considered superior would possess. History can and will continue to repeat itself as we continue thinking and behaving on repeat also. If we expect something different then Its up to us to stop getting in our own way in order to achieve something different. Perhaps this comment ended up being more of an applied ethics goes on date with co-evolution type thing. LOL. None the less hopefully fuel for thought. 🙂 Please know I spoke to objectivity NOT to any personal positions re wolves, ranchers, politics, activism, etc. Please dont confuse the difference

In the UK so no idea of the problems faced by the ranchers in the states ,having to try to make things pay, while having to suffer the losses of a large apex predator, nor do I know the problems suffered by those in the comments around Europe who also have problems. However lets face it, it is the same everywhere, people making policy and decisions and implementing them, and other people who have been on that land all their lives, just being told to "suck it up !". When the one rancher says "there taking it from us", that is what families are saying all over the Western world involved in agriculture.

If I’m not mistaken wasn’t it Ted Turner who was part of the cattle free by 93 I believe he funded some of the first wolf re introduction projects

How would the feds ever know if a rancher killed a bunch of wolves? They can’t even find Savannah Guthrie’s mom.

Great program for some reason states dnr think all predators have more value than game l And farm animals and pets our for fathers got rid of most of them for a reason.trapping is most effective way to reduce population.

I really enjoy driving through the state and see the cattle out on the open range and mountains. I think that this is an issue that the community should have control over.

This explains exactly what the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin are dealing with in regards to wolves. They have destroyed land values and crippled local businesses. I'm not sure they have been protected, we need protection from them!!

Nice film making. I think it gave me insight to a vanishing culture and lifestyle.

As someone who's lived on the West side of Oregon and Washington my whole life, I probably would have had an ignorant and flippant response about ranchers who just want to protect their way of living. I appreciate videos like this that offer a different perspective and a deep education into the issue that can change minds. Wolves deserve a place on the landscape but we absolutely need to responsibly manage them and not let emotions get in the way.
