I did similar a few years ago. Small case, Ryzen 5600X, RX 6600 XT, 8BitDo 2C controller (better than the Ultimate). I also tried Rii trackpad but gave up on it. I am fine with selecting TV HDMI, CEC was too much fuss for me. I use plain Debian Stable XFCE with Steam and ES-DE but if Bazzite works well for you then enjoy it 💪This actually makes me want to try Bazzite again. I really love your USB controller wake method, I will use that! Steam Guide button interference is annoying even on the one system, I turn it completely off in Steam settings, as I use that button for the RetroArch hotkey. The biggest friction for me is deciding which game or ROM to play from my already too-large To Play list 😅
I built a similar system last year. I solved the wake up from controller issue by grabbing a cheaper xbox controller clone with a 2.4ghz dongle and doing some driver work in terminal to make it a wake on usb device. Mix that with bazzite and i got my own version of the steam machine way earlier than launch.
A fellow 1080p enjoyer? I love it
6:09 Just get a Husky set from Home Depot. It's going to be like half the price, and the drive heads exclusive to the LTT set aren't going to be useful for 99% of people.
Thank you for not putting the TV over the fireplace.
I run moonlight on my apple tv. I have my gaming PC in the rack setup with wake on LAN and an GL iNet IPKVM I can access from a web browser. Controller connects directly to the apple tv.
I love how much work you did to be lazy. Chefs kiss.
With the newest version of windows in game bar there is a option to put ur controller in destktop mode. Making windows console pcs very attractive bc they actually work for multiplayer
At the end you asked us to tell you what you did wrong. EVERYTHING! Just kidding. Great video. Great ideas. Great work as always.
I built my own Steam Machine a while ago with an old 5600 and 3060. I've since swapped the GPU for a 7600 and have SteamOS on it. Rehoused mine in the Terra too. Absolutely lovely machine for chill couch gaming :D Got a Steam Controller on release day for it, works really well, printed a dock that holds the puck and controller nicely. Still got the 8bitdo controllers in case I'm using an N64 emulator or want to have some friends play too.
Wife approval is 100% justified. A lot of my projects require that. Not because our relationship is bad, but because I respect her and what she is willing to tolerate as well.
hey, I had a Rii remote years ago which was all of that in one. Airmouse, full keyboard, arrow keys, back ,home, left-right-click, scrolling, doublesided, IR / multiremote etc. and worked fine with win at the time and multiple android boxes. Let me see .... oh wow, bought in 2014 xD "Rii mini i13" it was called. If someone is interested maybe see if you can find the successors. It was for sure an all-around-all-can-do. HF & GL
You should definitely try using the bc-250 now! The thing is, you can actually activate all 44CU and even overclock its GPU and CPU.
LTT sponsor? Let's Go Haven! nice bro ❤
I've had an 8bitdo sn30 pro plus since like 2019 and I've since had an ultimate and ultimate 2 which I use for my PC and switch 2. They're the best controller imo. They're so high quality and you get a lot for $70. New steam controller is nice but it is a hard sell for me because it is mostly steam use only and more of a lateral move from the ultimate 2.
If you want to turn of the controller without waking the system you can toggle the switch to Bluetooth so it would stop communicating with the 2.4 dongle and when it's of switch it back and you're sorted for the next time you turn it on.
22:20 you can disable the overlay pretty easy just to the the steam settings/in game and disable it, you dont need to disable the steam input
I have my main gaming pc setup as a sunshine host and i just moonlight in directly from my TV, laptop, tablet, desk pc, etc.
I ended up getting an ROG Ally X along with a dock. This was about a year and a half ago, when prices were not crazy like they are now. I wanted a living-room-big-screen experience, but I also wanted a handheld. I didn't really want to have to buy two separate things, so I decided on the Ally + dock solution, and it's worked pretty well so far. One of the first things I did was ditch the Windows install, and put Bazzite on it. Got an 8bitdo Ultimate and hooked it to the dock, and now I have a pretty "console-like" big-screen, controller-navigable experience whether I'm handheld, or sitting in my living room. The Ally plays pretty much everything I've thrown at it, and for those very few games that don't run on SteamOS, I can stream them from my desktop PC using Sunshine/Moonlight.
For the remote try the pepper jobs w11 air mouse. You have to change some keys on Linux, but it works great and has ir programming
