He’s right. I don’t remember a single great player talking about the Ballon d’Or as a major goal of theirs prior to Ronaldo. They’d only talk about it when it was awarded, that was it. Idk if Ronaldo single-handedly changed this or if he was the first manifestation of a new culture that is more individualistic, but it’s definitively changed since then.
