That’s why he is a villain in the story because he had a choice go after the braid who doesn’t love him and wants to stay as far away from him as possible or stay where he is truly loved and accepted and he chose one sided love and immaturity

He should have just stayed with her until she passed, that would have shown more of a human side to him. But he did kill her out of mercy, he had his mission. I do wish he had waited though, she was on the way out anyway and it would have been a short break for him.

I don’t consider him killing her as a mercy killing, because the fact that he is immortal, he can’t die, he could’ve waited until she passed, but he was selfish and decided to choose a woman that doesn’t love him because he thinks that she belongs to him over a place where he can call home, he didn’t kill her out of mercy. He killed her because he was selfish and didn’t want that on his conscience. There was no mercy for her. It was mercy on his mind.
