This is why you need third or fifth opinions. I got misdiagnosed once, the doctor said I had to have an emergency surgery. I said wait and went to another hospital. The new doctor just give me prescriptions and another appointment. The excruciating pain disappeared. I don't have to get surgery, just a few months of meds. You really need to see many doctors (and bring your trusted person) before you take a decision.

daughter is allergic to sulfa drugs ...the reaction started after taking same antibiotics several times in the past. Dr says no more ever or she will likely not make it as her first reaction was so severe. scary

Had an urgent care doctor tell me to rush to the hospital as I had pneumonia and was on the verge of being septic. Emergency room retested and I was no where near septic and had like a chest cold. They gave me a z-pack and Sudafed and sent me home after like 5 hours

Went to the er when I was a teen. Dr diagnosed me with ectopic pregnancy. I knew for certain that wasn't the case but he was insisting. Gladly my parents decided that he had it wrong. A month later we saw he had gotten arrested for false documents as in he wasn't a real doctor. Sure glad I stayed with the truth and my parents did also.
My Dad's doctor got arrested for giving patients chemo meds and it was actually saline. He told me before he died. Shes now in prison.
