Ederson is NOT a CM (Central Midfielder or Box to Box Midfielder). He is primarily and naturally a DM (Defensive Midfielder). United in my personal opinion needs 2 players who can play as a DM and one more who can play as CM (Box to Box Midfielder). This makes 3 new midfielders needed to add to Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes. It's very likely Ugarte is leaving. Casemiro is already gone.

A very clear Premier League-level player to me. Anyone who watches him play and thinks of Ugarte or Fred is simply blind. Ugarte is quite limited technically, even though he runs tirelessly and brings a certain level of physicality. Fred, on the other hand, was technically gifted, but he lacked the physical presence required and had some significant defensive shortcomings as well. Éderson offers strong work in tight spaces, quick decision-making, and excellent use of both feet for carrying the ball, controlling it, and switching play. He’s not particularly fast, but not to the point where it becomes an issue. On top of that, he has a solid physical profile for the Premier League elite. He brings durability, intensity, technical quality, and a good defensive level too. I think he would be a very good signing to have as part of the squad rotation.
