Juraj Slafkovksy scored twice in the third period to compliment Montreal's four first period goals as the Canadiens handed the Hurricanes their first loss of the playoffs. Jakub Dobes stopped 25 shots in the victory. MTL leads series 1-0.

Could you imagine being a sens or flyers fan seeing a younger team score more goals in one game than you scored in a series

Hate the rust/rest debate. Just excuses. Habs won because tonight, they were the better team.

A lot of fans forget that Montreal were 3-0 vs Carolina this Season. They are also forgetting that Montreal won vs 2 of the best teams in these playoffs. Carolina beat Ottawa & Philly. 2 teams that aren't good. Not sure why people thought Carolina was sweeping Montreal.

Wow. Demidov and Slafkovsky showed elite puck handling with their goals. No lucky bounces there, just precision.

In any case, the seed of doubt is planted. Suzuki is rock solid. High hockey IQ. And Slaf played a good game.

Hunger kills any fatigue. Carolina's system got exposed tonight. Just as I suspected they try to surround the puck handler but they forget the middle and that won't change because that has been their style the whole year. They are in a catch 22 now. If they change the system and try to play inside out then the habs will expose them with their specialty which is the exit passes down the side. I think Carolina has stepped in the mudd and it's thick. The habs are a well competitive hardened team. The habs will let you shoot all day but the scoring chances belonged to the habs that is key. The habs don't shoot from everywhere they methodically cut you down for each scoring chance.

Bruins fan here. No one's been giving the Habs the credit they deserve. They beat a great Lightning team, they beat the highly skilled Sabres. They're mentally tough, they're fast, they're skilled, they make you pay for your mistakes, and they put the puck in the back of the net. And then you have Dobeš. Jeff Gorton made the Bruins great for over a decade in his short time with us and he's done it again in Montreal. The Canadiens are the real deal now and will be for years to come. Allez Montreal!

The funny thing is we heard by a ton of reputable hockey analysts that Carolina would give nothing to the Habs offensively. Well apparently all those nothings must have amounted to something because the Habs managed to win 6-2.

Experts embarassed. They think Dobes can lose vs 5-hole Andersen? Come on! Canes have no chance.

This run that the Habs are going through really feels like the 2021 playoffs. Being a underdog team that just finds ways to win series. It doesn't matter who are they playing. They play their way every single game and they have the best goalie who can give them a chance to win. Some of this group have unfinished business with winning the Stanley Cup. Habs are not going away.

Why so hard to believe Habs are a tough team? Look who they had to play to get here. Great coach, great players and team spirit. Go Habs go.

So much fun playing the "find the Habs fans in the arena" game. How the hell do they keep finding seats at the glass, lol, and near the goalie, to boot? They must be laying out a fortune. This is the team with the biggest fan spreadout. It must warm the cockles of the players hearts.

Montreal finished the season with the 4th best record in the eastern conference even with suspect goaltending to start the year. Now that there's a consistent/reliable goalie between the pipes it should come as no surprise they are beating teams who finished ahead of them in the standings.

The saddest thing is tsn doesn't get many opportunities to devote 29 minutes to a leafs victory in 2nd round
