If he saw the touch, ref shouldn’t be telling the defender to back off. If he didn’t see the touch, he should be raising his flag when 10 takes off dribbling from the corner.

I think to do that you must at least make sure the ball leaves the quadrant with the first touch.

Hate stuff like this. It's not in the spirit of the game. If the defender had noticed the ball was in play and challenged, you can guarantee the player in blue would have claimed they hadn't taken it yet.
