Dream Ride to Ladakh | Part 02 | වාහනයකින් යා හැකි ලෝකයේ දෙවැනි උසම ස්ථානයට | Khardung la pass | 4K
Day 2 in Ladakh began with a breathtaking morning view from our lodge, bikes lined up, backup vehicles getting ready, and the entire team preparing for another unforgettable ride. After breakfast, we geared up for the journey ahead. As soon as the front rider gave the signal, our convoy rolled through the peaceful streets of Leh, surrounded by towering snowy mountains in the distance. Our first stop was to refuel before continuing deeper into the mountains. The weather was cold and dry, with landscapes filled with brown rocky hills slowly transforming as we climbed higher in altitude. Little by little, snow began to appear along the roads, and the atmosphere changed completely. We stopped at a viewpoint where we met another crew from Sri Lanka. With nearly 30 riders in our team, the energy and excitement were incredible. After showing our passes at a security checkpoint, we continued our ride through one of the most stunning roads we had ever experienced. At one point, me and “Man saranna” stopped where there was a thick layer of snow beside the road. Like little kids, we jumped in and played with the snow, enjoying every second of that magical moment. As we rode further, the mountains turned fully white, and soon we reached the legendary Khardung La pass second world’s highest motorable mountain pass in the world, standing at 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). Located around 40 kilometres north of Leh, it connects the Indus Valley with the Shyok and Nubra Valleys. Reaching that point was emotional and unforgettable. We proudly celebrated together with our Sri Lankan flag flying high in the freezing mountain air. After lunch, we continued riding toward the beautiful Nubra Valley, also known as Dumra, meaning “Valley of Flowers” in Tibetan. Surrounded by majestic mountains, monasteries, and orchards, the valley felt like a completely different world. Our next destination was the famous Hundar Sand Dunes a surreal cold desert located along the banks of the Shyok River. At nearly 4,000 meters above sea level, the silver white sand dunes contrasted beautifully against the snow-covered Himalayan peaks. The place is also home to the rare double humped Bactrian camels, once used along the ancient Silk Road. The cold breeze, the silence, and the scenery made the moment feel unreal. After spending some peaceful time there with a warm cup of tea in the crisp cold weather, we finally headed toward our campsite for the night. We refreshed ourselves, had dinner, and later gathered around a bonfire where an entertainment session had been organised. Laughter, music, dancing, stories, and the freezing Ladakh night created memories we will never forget. It was a beautiful ending to an incredible day and all of these moments are captured in this video.I hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed living this unforgettable experience. Greetings, I am Dinesh.
