I love how people's first reaction when going over the tracks is to stop right in the middle

Remember if you are trapped between the barriers and have nowhere to go, you are NOT trapped. Drive forward as quickly as possible THROUGH the barrier as they are designed to break for that scenario. Better a smashed windscreen and dented bonnet than to be dead.

I'm amazed that people would rather face the train than drive thru a puny crossing barrier. Wow

The first thing they taught us in drivers ed is that the train always wins.

So, the big takeaway is, when a car or truck is stuck on the tracks, the train will almost always be able to get it unstuck.

Every time I see a collision, I fear for the train conductor’s life.

6:20 Poland 2019, one doctor and one paramedic died. The driver survived with injuries and was sentenced to 5 years in prison for causing an unintentional land traffic disaster. He was trying to position the vehicle pararell to the rails instead of just breaking the barrier. It was all over the news. Everybody was talking about how those deaths could have been avoided had the driver not lost his cool. Shortly after this accident the media in Poland launched an information campaign on what to do if you get stuck on a level crossing.

The mental gymnastics you have to pull to see a train 10 feet away and still think “I can make it” is insane

Gotta love the dude at 2:45 who rides his bike straight into the moving train AFTER it just crashed into a car. I mean, there's lack of attention and then there's NEXT LEVEL lack of attention.

Its astounding how this has ever happened more than once. How do you not see a giant train barrelling at you?

i like how some of them stop right in front of the track then move into it 1 second before the train reach it almost looks like suicidal to me

I love how tons of these come down to a: "I'd rather take my chances than potentially get a scratch on my car driving through those designated *breakaway* barriers!"

Guys, just a little hint: 1. If the lights are flashing, DON'T GO 2. Look BOTH ways 3. If your car gets stuck and CAN'T move, LEAVE it 4. If your car gets stuck and it can move, move FORWARD OFF the tracks 5. DON'T stop on the tracks
