Newly obtained traffic camera footage shows the moment the driver of a sports car in Bellevue lost control and crashed the vehicle she was driving, killing her passenger. The driver, 26-year-old Ting Ye, has been charged with vehicular homicide but, according to police, has left the country for China. Traffic cameras across several intersections document the flash of a white Porsche that police say was driven by Ye on Sept. 30 around 4 a.m. The vehicle hit a cement barricade and went airborne. Investigators say Ye, the driver, survived and her passenger, 27-year-old Yabao Liu died. According to court documents, a first responder noted the “strong odor of alcohol coming from the defendant’s breath.” Court records allege Ye did not cooperate with investigators and has since fled to her home country of China. Former Washington Governor and former U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke points to the lack of an extradition treaty between the two countries. “The story is not over. Yes, she was able to elude the arrest warrant, but if she were to ever travel to another country, let’s say to Europe on business or pleasure to an area, to a country that does have an extradition treaty with the United States she’ll be flagged when she enters that country by Interpol and subject to extradition back to the United States if the United States government so desires,” Locke said. As a firefighter, I unfortunately have to deal with car accidents like this... I don't think anyone understands, that we're the people who have to rescue your body from those cars. Paramedics, have to confirm your death. Police, have to identify your body, then tell your family you died in a horrific car accident. Your family will then have to suffer the loss, who may never recover emotionally. So next time you get behind the wheel of a car... Think about your actions.

Remember this. The driver was also extremely drunk AND survived while the passenger died. Don’t get into someone’s car if they have been drinking. It’s not worth your life.

I'm really sickened by this. I was the first responder on the scene of a horrible rollerover crash a few weeks ago. The husband blew by my truck going at least 150+ ran into the side of another semi and killed his wife of 22 years. We were able to save him. Couldn't get her out because the car was on top of her. People it's not worth drinking and driving. Please stop this kind of stuff. It scares the people very badly that have to try to save you. I can't get those images out of my head. 😢
We had a saying as kids in the seventies: "Take yourself out, your a hero. Take someone with you, your a zero". That kept me straight
This is horrible. My wife was on a girls trip with her sisters and mom a few years ago and her sister had a few drinks with dinner but still insisted on driving them back to the hotel when the others did not drink at all. My wife refused to ride with her and said she’d get her own ride. The others were mad at her for speaking up that it made no sense for the only person who had drinks to drive them home because “it was rude” to say so. In the end her sis gave over the keys but not without a little bit of drama and some words. Still totally worth it. Don’t assume someone is okay to drive even if they’ve only had a drink or two. Let them be angry, it’s not worth risking your life to not offend someone who is clearly not thinking of your safety or theirs.
