After a few years Ford looked around and said still no direct competitor? Really? Hell yeah we're gonna crank up the prices. Can't really blame them in a way for that. The other automakers really dropped the ball IMO.
Crapping on the towing capacity of a small truck is kind of pointless. Almost every full size truck owner has never hooked up a trailer. And if you need a truck for towing, you aren't shopping a Maverick.
$41k for an XLT is crazy. That is higher than the starting price for the Lariat trim level. Base price for an XLT is $33.2k (with destination fee) and base price for Lariat is $40.6k (with destination). Does this XLT have every option on it?
I gotta tell you folks ( at TFL ) that when Nathan 'showcases' a vehicle, I tend to listen and watch the videos all the way to the end. This is ( perhaps ) my opinion only, but it is my two cents worth for you.

First of all, if you want Hybrid and AWD, that is the STANDARD configuration on the Lariat. Those are both upcharge options on the XLT, (at least they were when I bought my 2025). I bought a 2025 Lariat, AWD, Hybrid, with 4k tow, and the full Co-Pilot 360, which included Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Centering, with a Ford Extended Warranty for 6 years/175,000 miles, ( pile up the miles, bought mine in January 2025, already have over 38k on it), and I was out the door at $41,500. That all said, this is my 2nd Hybrid Maverick. I had a 2023 FWD Hybrid, which I loved, but wanted the AWD and 4K towing, so I bought the 2025. My son now has the 23', and he loves it! I bought that one in Sept of 23', (XLT Lux package, Co-Pilot 360, and 2k Tow, 6 year/175k Warranty), and was OTD at $31,200. For me, both were well worth the price. I am pulling about 37 mpg lifetime on the 2025, and my son is seeing closer to 40 mpg in the 2023, so no complaints. I can fill from less than 1/4 tank for about $45 in MD.
So happy we got one back in the day almost fully loaded for 23k. It doesn't make any sense at the price today
I’m not sure how you can say it costs the same as a Ranger. Look at feature for feature. Here in Alberta Canada it’s about $15,000 - 18,000 feature for feature LESS! $15,000, heck,,,, $18,000 LESS is significant!! Maybe you have so much money that the difference isn’t relevant,,, (I actually do) but it truly is significant in my opinion. $15,00l - $18,000 LESS! 😊😊😊

I'm so glad to have Nathan back even for a short time. And I agree the maverick is a great economy truck that will do most everything Americans will need but not want.
I've owned 3 Maverick hybrids with the current being a 2025 awd 4k towing version. I've had multiple warranty issues and recalls. No Maverick is worth more than $35k ever.
Absolutely loving my hybrid Maverick with gasoline being $5.00 a gallon.. The 36 to 40 MPG 👍👍… The ingress and egress height is about perfect.. The ability to unload water heaters by myself is a real plus from the bed due to the lower height of the bed..
I really like these had one for a rental. I do agree with the original front end look the kind of gave the 90s Ford Ranger vibe.
It's still outselling the Ranger by a lot, so obviously the price is right. That's exactly what I would be doing if I was Ford, that's how you do business and make money. If the sales numbers drop a whole lot, they will discount it. That's how the world works.
Of course it's priced too high. Inflation killing this country. It's crazy.

Hey TFL, can you please do an IKE with the hybrid Maverick? I would love to see how it does with 4000 lbs hooked up to it. I know you've done it with the 2.0 ecoboost, but i expect it will be a fair bit different with the hybrid.
To be honest, you couldn't actually buy a $19,995 Maverick at least anywhere I could find- even trying to order one was impossible. Markups on the stripped base was at least $5,000 but there was 'limited availability' of the base model if you tried to order it.

Demand creates sales so if people are buying these for 42K then they are going to stay pricey. Personally they are unique - i'd need to test drive vs a mid.
