Today I compare a 2026 Ford F-150 5.0 V8, 2026 Ford F-150 3.5L Ecoboost, 2026 Ford F-150 PowerBoost, and 2026 ford F-150 2.7L EcoBoost! Murdock Ford: https://www.murdockford.com/ Second Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkS7iqfGFa8R3h56OaJgdoQ Instagram: ben_hardypl Facebook: @benhardycar

I mean I'd really have to flip a coin if I was getting one it'd be between the 2.7 5.0
I’ll take the 5.0 all day, every day. Toss on a couple of snails and smile like an idiot every time I touch the throttle.
I am so happy I got the 5.0 over the PowerBoost. No turbos or hybrid system to worry about and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
I think 2.7 is really best. For 1 most reliable of them all, 2 best fuel milage, and 3 strong enough for any half ton needs. If you want more power just tune it. But if you really want the v8 rumble i think the 5.0 is just okay
Why the PB hate? Better mpg. Better hp. Better torque. 7.2KW pro power.
Love my 2022 F150 5.0. Got 24.5 from South Dakota to Pennsylvania. Overall trip with sightseeing was 22.6. Love the 5.0
The main reason I opted for the Powerboost is the 7.2kw generator it came with that can power my entire camper. I have had no issues with mine.
I have a powerboost and it’s been the best truck I’ve owned. I don’t have any of the issues you discussed. The generator is awesome for camping. 0 complaints. I’m not a brand loyal guy and would be the first to say it if I was driving something with issues. That said, I’ve owned 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboosts and the 5.0 (in addition to other brands). If I had to buy another truck today, I’d get another powerboost.
I drive a 2.7 with 3.55 rears every day and I’ll put it against anything for pulling, take off and mpg. It might not be the winner in every category but it will do it all very well
As an owner of '24 2.7L EB just past 20K miles, I can say that Ford made the right decision to make it as the 'base' engine as it does everything very well. In my specific use case using it as a daily city driver, family hauler, Costco runner I really have no complaints. It drives like an SUV which is a compliment, good fuel economy. It's a great entry point if you want to tow a proper travel trailer or a boat in the future. I do oil changes every 2.5K miles(50% oil life) because I daily it in the city. Ford recommends every 5K miles. Can't say enough good things about it. Ecoboost V6s have been around long enough compared to the new Turbo 6-cylinders around. Engine reliability is well known tho underrated. I'm curious with the extra utility of the Powerboost tho ngl especially that Pro Power Onboard and how the hybrid aids short city driving with the stop and go.
I have had my powerboost for 4 months now, and I don't even notice when it goes in and out of hybrid anymore. Gas mileage absolutely pays for itself. I do agree its a more complex engine, but its also not new... been around almost a decade now. Bugs have been worked out.
Nice to see yet another video by a different reviewer coming to the conclusion that the 5.0L V8 is overall the best pick, and I agree.
Are we still going on about whats best? There is no best.....just buy what suits upur needs or likes. Can't go wrong with either .Good to have choices,Kudos Ford
You explained the 3.5 and 5.0 the best towards the end of the video amazing. I currently have a 2023 with the 3.5 and my lease is up and do not want to keep it. I'm sticking with the power and sound of the 5.0
The 2.7 is awesome, my uncle has one and the fuel mileage is good for a truck. Plenty of power. But the 5.0 in my opinion is the best. The 5.0 in my profile pic made it to 140k while supercharged before the trans gave out. Never an engine mechanical issue. Granted it was only tuned to 590hp or so for longevity. Our small rural city employees have a few 5.0s and they haven’t had issues. My take home work truck has a 5.0 and she’s got 210k with no issues, it won’t haul my camper like my F250 but damn is it impressive for a half ton. Those 2.7s are awesome if you are religious about oil changes and overall maintenance, if you’re towing a lot and is overall used for work I’d take the relatively “simple” Coyote over the 2.7. My dad’s 3.5 Raptor is at 180k with no issues but it’s an outlier and 90% of it is highway miles, I’d never own that engine.
I like bens videos. I dont agree with any of his assessment of the powerboost. Mine is super smooth. The only time theres ever the slightest clunk is if its cold and the transmission isnt warm. Nothing crazy though.
I have a 2017 F150 Platinum with the 5.0. Not a single problem. Sounds great when you stomp on it. Average 17-18MPG mixed.
The 3.5 now has a particulate filter you'll need to pay an experienced shop to cut out. Otherwise enjoying paying more for less power and a fun soot can to clog up in a few years time.
3.5 is standard over the 5.0 here in Canada got a 25 tremor with the 3.5 25000km so far no complaints lots of torque
The Powerboost is for a special use case. The Powerboost with the 7.2kw upgrade essentially makes the truck a 7.2kw mobile generator. I am in FL and I use my Powerboost as my whole house back-up generator - managing loads I can run the home for almost a week from my F-150. For me, it's a part of my hurricane readiness plan.
