I would have thought that after over 100 years of making internal combustion engines and geared transmissions, they'd all have figured it out by now.
My advice, buy none of the new vehicles unless you enjoy driving around in a surveillance prison that you will never own.
No deal is the best deal for these expensive trucks now.

Driving a 2017 Tundra SR5 with less than 85K original miles on it. Thought I wanted to buy a new truck. The more I learn, the less I want a new truck. Everything has problems now.

At least GM made a new engine. Tundras have the same engine and front bearing failures. I would go Ford.
Not trusting Toyota! GM, we’ll just forget about it for at least the next 4 to 5 years. Ford, EH! Kinda maybe Ram in my opinion best choice right now. Nissan Titan, I WISH!
The Tundra is Russian roulette with an 8-round cylinder with one loaded chamber, the GM 6.2 is Russian roulette with a 5-round cylinder with 4 loaded chambers.
[Note to Ford] Build me a reliable XLT F-150 with a "heavy duty" 5 speed manual overdrive transmission, MPFI 6 or V8 engine, NO turbo(s) and NO wet belts! Also, a tilt cab or front end, if the engine is 1/2 way under the firewall.
Don't forget about the metal shavings in the rear differential. The car care nut open up his tundra and was shocked to see the metal shavings that actually resemble metal shavings from drilling. They have not addressed the issue
My 2019 Ram Laramie w/ 5.7 has 80,000 miles. Paid off. Never been in the shop. Not one electrical failure. Auto deploy side steps still work. Been a dream truck. Gonna buy another one in the next couple of years.
None at these prices and long term reliability issues.
