In this video, we break down: • What Apple’s Digital ID actually is • How it works with your US passport • TSA airport support • The new age verification system • Why Apple could become the leader in digital identity • The privacy implications of all of this This might seem like a small Wallet update, but it could completely change how we verify our identity online and in person over the next few years. I uploaded my passport in Apple wallet but have not used it at any airport security checkpoints. I never want to be the guy holding up the line to test out new tech
I don’t have a REALID drivers license yet so I used the digital ID when I flew last month and it worked like a charm.
I have used digital ID multiple times going through TSA. The main issue is it’s slow. The system verifying takes longer than you handing your ID and having them scan it.
I’ve used the digital ID at Seattle airport. No issues.
is this again only for US?

I've been using Digital ID while I travel for the last year or so and it's been seamless. Great video.
Hopefully, we can expand this outside of the US sooner than later I live in Canada and I would love to have this here
The UK’s idea of a (mandatory) digital ID isn’t checking into a hotel or at airports. It’s to link everything from social media use, public services, ability to work and rent into one centralised database. Green tick if you’re eligible, Red Cross if you’re not Kier Starmer’s idea of a model citizen. Those are just the confirmed use cases, it’s expected to link to purchasing carrier SIM’s, recreational activities and cable provider (to ensure you’re paying the roughly $20 a month TV license and don’t accidentally see 5 mins of live sports you already paid for).
I've used both digital DL and Digital Passport on my Apple Watch for TSA. No issue
Government digital ID 😂😂😂 good little sheep. Follow what the government wants you to do.
2:45 you’re welcome “Let’s get right into this everybody” (after nearly 3 minutes lol)
My wife and I traveled over seas a few months ago and used the digital ID to get though TSA. It was very easy and the tsa worker was excited to try it out we will definitely be using the digital ID again in the future.
Part of me doesn't trust uploading bank and personal info like this, and part of me wants to fully accept it and link everything.
Love using it at tsa. But some tsa agents will try to give a hard time and request another form of ID after you’re cleared by the system.
My wife and I both did the passports for the digital ID and then we tried using at the Phoenix airport and they did not work. The TSA agent was really cool about it and let us try a couple times.
I used the digital passport at the Denver airport and it was faster than the physical passport! Super awesome.
Here in Brazil we have digital ID for several years, nowadays is almost becoming the default option for driver license and the physical one soon will be optional. But we need to use the “CNH do Brasil” app for showing it (basically a digital version of the physical one, followed by a QR code to validate it. Drivers license are digital nationwide, regular ID still needs a specific state app but the old state ID number is no longer in use and new IDs use the CPF (like tax id number) since it is unique to each person and basically your number to everything.
Digital ID is great when the system actually works. In Chicago O'Hare there's two lines. 1 for biometric and one for regular check. The person managing the line didn't care that I wanted to use the iPhone and even when I tried to use it, it wouldn't scan. In PDX the system didn't accept it and I had to show my actual ID. They actually don't even use Ids, they just scan your face and you're good to go. I've gotten so used to using my apple watch for payment so it was the next logical step to use my ID to go through the line. Obviously it's still a new tech and everyone is freaked out (rightly so) about privacy so time will tell if it becomes wildly adopted
Still waiting for this in the UK
