Final Fantasy 5 is one of the most played entries in the series when it comes to challenge runs. The way the game is designed, it's easy to remove numerous sources of power to make the experience that much more harrowing. Knowing this, I decided I could do something a little more meta; remove the usage of the menu. It turns out, that is one source of power that you SHOULD NEVER remove. While it's not particular to this video only, I want to say something. Your challenge runs have been absolutely saving my sanity for the last few months. I'm on the last stages of getting my bachelor's degree, and my university's administration keeps making increasingly more bizarre and surreal decisions that are driving me crazy. It might be your undying constructive attitude, or the masterful swear application and wordplay, or the passion for weird and twisted decision-making, or hell, just sheer dedication to prove that some strange concept is possible to fulfill, but you have a talent to entertain and give a massive motivation boost. Before I started watching, I wanted to make a small list of stuff that I thought might happen, and the main ones were "he's gonna get fucked by Lv 5 Death (which made me do a weirdly evil cackle when it happened), Zombie is gonna fuck him over (didn't end up mattering since I didn't know Dechirers could drop Revivifies), and Tote Aevis would randomly destroy you (oh yeah)". It takes a much greater man than me to think of doing a challenge run to this extent of a game that I'd only be partially familiar with, so at this point after finishing it, there's not a lot I can say aside from, "god damn, I'm glad I didn't have to do that." Amazing run!!! And thank you for the shout-out at the end! I wish I'd known to mention that you can steal Defenders from the Landcrawlers in that big desert in world 3, that probably woulda helped you, but your solution to Fork Tower was pretty smart, I've never even considered using the Berserk strat. Also, random nerd shit: Atomos IS vulnerable to sleep, but as he has the Heavy flag, he's immune to Harp damage. And Harps are even worse than you imply, because they do percent damage based on CURRENT HP, so unless the enemy has 1 health remaining, Harps can't kill stuff. Heavy doesn't necessarily make you immune to instant death and the like, there are multiple Heavy bosses that can be killed by the Death Scythe as you discovered, but the overlap is pretty significant. Also, yes, Omega's activation range is super bullshit. That's all I got, I'm seriously stunned you didn't say "okay I'm never playing final fantasy again!", but I guess that would be pretty out of character. I hope your future runs don't cause any more physical or mental anguish.
Final Fantasy V is one of my all-time favourite games and this video was an absolute treat to watch. I've beaten this game like 20 times and you've probably exceeded my total playtime with just this one challenge. Seeing you gradually discover all the bullshit this game has to offer and work around it was amazing. Genuinely legendary run. I'm sorry this happened to you, but thank you for giving me this feature-length experience during stressful times, so I can turn my brain off for a bit and smile like an idiot.
