Farm dogs like livestock guardians had C&D to protect their ears and tails from being bitten. Breeds like boxers need to have their tails docked because they have floppy tails but u shouldn't do it just for cosmetic reasons ur dog isn't a status symbol and isn't an accessory

Some folks claim this is to prevent ear infections because the cropped ear stay more dry but it's often done on a dog before it would even be old enough to have a medical history of repeat ear infections.

me n my mom should've cropped our big dogs ears, not for asthetic reasons, because now that we didnt, he gets infections in his ears alot, but my mom didnt think that he would need it when he was a pup.

As said if it’s for a working dog’s safety or for medical reasons it’s fine, but if it’s just to be cosmetic it’s 100% abusive. Same with tail docking.

I only support ear cropping for working dogs, otherwise i think that its extremely terrible. Also, calling it totally unnecessary is wrong, and you need to rephrase this.

A bunch of mini schnauzers get their ears cropped and it makes me so sad, I’m so happy my dog has hers intact, they are the softest cutest things on the planet. I wish she still had her tail though too 😭

The day my mom had to put her dog down. A guy came in and berated one of the receptionists because the puppy (that just had his ears cropped) no longer had cropped ears because the guy put the dog in the back of his truck and the wind got the ears and yeah. Let’s just say my mom had to be held back because she was shouting at him so much.

I don't like ear cropping or tail docking or removing cats claws, it's mean and probably hurts them sooo yah, plus I think dobermans look cute with floppy ears as adults

It’s actually used to make sure the attack dogs don’t injure their ears when in a fight or flopping g hem around and accidentally biting them
