My kid is the worst for this. I try say something like "I don't know maybe he was born like that or got in an accident... but I bet the one arm he has is SUPER strong!"

I'm a wheelchair user. I always tell little kids my legs are tired if I see them staring. Recently two teenage boys shouted "Disabled! Disabled!" at me when I was waiting for a bus - no actual insults like naughty 80s/90s kids would.
