JOBS WILL NEVER RETURN AS COMPANIES SLASH WORKERS FOR AI - 92,000 LAYOFFS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

Tech

AI isn’t “creating jobs.” It’s replacing them. 92,000 positions wiped out in 2026 so far. In the past 30 days alone, we’ve seen layoffs across Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce, Oracle, Snap Inc., and even Nike — all while AI spending explodes toward a projected $700 BILLION buildout. Companies are cutting workers to fund AI, not because they’re failing — which means this isn’t cyclical… it’s structural. And here’s what nobody wants to admit: 👉 The gap between job loss and job creation is widening — fast 👉 The “new jobs” argument doesn’t help the people losing jobs today 👉 The middle layer of the workforce is getting squeezed out This is not a slowdown. This is a permanent shift in how companies operate — and it directly impacts job security, income growth, and long-term career stability. OpenAI's jobs report admits widespread displacement coming. Where's the safety net? If you're in New York, vote for Alex Bores---he will fight for worker protections and retraining. #NY12 #JobsWithJustice

They are already seeing massive issues with AI and had to bring people back…while AI will cause lose of jobs, not every job will go away

You are 100% correct that these jobs aren't returning. And those who don't understand AI - or minimize its impact - aren't using it. And having it write your book report isn't "using" AI. Visit a couple professional prompting sites and take a look at sample prompts in YOUR field. If you aren't writing prompts like these, then you aren't "using" AI. ..

Well at least you won't have to look at "plumber's crack" when AI is on it's knees unclogging your drain under the sink.

Since Zuck seems to know better than everyone else and won't listen to advisers the Metaverse has been a dismal failure. Now he is "going after" AI because they have nowhere else to go. Zuckerberg has no idea what he is doing.

I don't have any money invested in the stork markit like 41ks and snp500, n companies n stuff. All my assets are in the banks... The river banks of Alaska: Logs, ivory, gold, furs, fish, waterfowl, my handmade wooden skiff, log rafts, wall tents, small trapline cabins etc. I think ill be ok...

If AI LLMs fall flat then things will change again. The only constant is change.

Ironic. At least two generations of computer programmers have spent the last sixty years digging their own graves.

I'M ALL FOR ADVANCEMENTS! BUT...GOT TO DO IT RIGHT. FYI: WHERE DID THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION GET US? AT FIRST, IT SEEMED LIKE GREAT IMPROVEMENTS, BUT NOW WE HAVE MELTING ICE CAPS AND COASTAL CITIES FLOODING, THE ATLANTIC CONVEYOR BELT COMING TO A STOP, 1000+ SUPERFUND CLEAN UP SITES, NUCLEAR DOOMSDAY CLOCK, ETC ETC. AND THIS MORNING I SAW ARTICLES THAT ALL THE SHRIMP IN THE USA COULD BE RADIOACTIVE AND MAC AND CHEESE MADE WITH TOXIC INGREDIENTS.

I'm glad that I'm not a part of this anymore because this is going to be a disaster in the long run.

I'm going to guess the largest number of 'live human' jobs disappearing will be in customer service call centers after calling in to one of the largest providers of streaming music accessed by many through their vehicle enabled audio systems. The AI customer service identified itself as 'Harmony' and I was able to look it up as well. The performance of 'Harmony' is about the best you can expect from a call center too! My question: Where are young people who typically take these jobs going to find both part and full time jobs today especially if they are low on both skill and experience?

This is a boondoggle of epic proportions. All those $billions invested in AI and now management has to show some benefits from it, so they lay off workers. Dont be fooled, they are really just cutting head count to save money getting ahead of the economic doom thats coming soon.

I agree with you- it's a hughe misstake. The people who gets fired and replaced by AI are in many cases also customers of the products the company is producing- so they are cutting off the branch they are sitting on. AI won't buy any of their products and their former employees won't either, because they are pissed about being fired and might have to cut down on spending because of unemployment. I also think that AI is being used as a cover for firing people because We are heading into recession/ depression with less sales and less employees needed and they need to cut because of that.
