Funny how they forgot to layoff the most useless people, the zombie executives.

I always wonder with these massive layoffs, what kind of work did all these fired employees do for this company? If you can layoff them by these numbers, where they of any importance for this company in the first place ?

As someone who works for a payment processor and has to deal with PayPal's crap I can honestly say they should fire the other 80% asap and close this hellhole.

Eli I listened to you through getting my computer science degree and now I'm six years into my career as a software engineer. I agree with everything you're saying. I do believe the layoffs are due to all the easy money and low interest rates during COVID and they overhired expecting the same returns. Now with everything tightening they're using AI as an excuse for layoff. It's simple greed and lies have left us in this situation. Keep up the good work.

paypal has around 60% of it's revenue from north america. since weaponize the dollar in 2022, the rest of the world been trying to avoid US financial processors and after greenland comments even European trying to localize their payment processors. if mastercard and visa on chopping block, paypal will be the first to avoid.

This is 10s of thousands of people dumped into unemployment—suffering anxiety and insecurity. These are people with families and homes how will they survive and find another job?!!

Yes I agree. Too many people in Tech. It was a goldmine in the 00s and early 10s. But now? Well, it seems like there are no good jobs.

They are going back to overworking employees because those employees won’t leave because of the terrible job market

I worked in a big corporation for 33 years, and I always thought the company could have run just fine with half the employees they had. Every 10 years or so, when it became obvious there were way too many employees, they would have mass layoffs, then 5 years later, they would hire them all back.
